Site Quality Manager – Gas Power Generation Jobs in Remote at Blattner Energy, Inc.
Blattner is expanding our energy construction leadership into gas power generation. This is a unique opportunity to help build this new business from the ground up, backed by a company with decades of proven success in the energy sector. This position will help us shape the processes and standards that carry this business forward to deliver end-to-end hybrid energy solutions.
The Site Quality Manager is a champion of Blattner’s quality culture and verifies that Blattner’s Quality Program is being delivered by the project teams. They serve as a technical subject matter expert and technical consultant, supporting the Site Quality Coordinators and Quality department overall. They mentor Site Quality Coordinators on technical knowledge, inspection and testing methodologies, management and coaching of Quality Control Inspectors, as well as engagement techniques that strengthens the quality culture at the project level. These engagement techniques are applicable to interactions with Blattner construction personnel, as well as Client representatives.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Assesses Blattner’s Quality Culture and verifies that Blattner’s Quality Program is understood, followed, enforced, and consistently applied across projects to ensure project teams deliver a quality project in a safe and efficient manner.
- Acts as the subject matter expert with the development, implementation, and continued refinement of Inspection Instructions and Test Instructions, while collaborating with the General Superintendents Construction and Quality Department during these efforts.
- Trains, develops, and mentors Site Quality Coordinators to ensure the Quality Control team is integrated as a part of the project team, creating, and sustaining a proactive quality culture.
- Supports Site Quality Coordinators in establishing accurate and efficient Quality Control Work Plans for each project.
- Assists site management in the training and coaching of Construction personnel as it relates to Quality Assurance efforts, analyzing trends, and problem solving to proactively mitigate quality, safety, and waste exposures.
- Promotes the expectation that all employees operate in accordance with Standard Work Instructions and mandatory operating procedures.
- Engages with the Process Excellence team, acting as the Quality subject matter expert, when updates are required for Standard Work documents.
- Collaborates with Safety to ensure Quality Control teams are carrying out their responsibilities with regards to the corporate safety program, electrical safety program, and project specific safety policies.
- Applies Stop Work Authority for quality and/or safety exposures observed, as applicable.
- Collaborates with General Superintendents Construction and project teams to ensure Quality Control teams are aligned to support all Quality Control inspection and testing requirements.
- Assists with the recruitment of Site Quality Coordinators and Quality Control Inspectors by participating in the interview and hiring process.
- Supports the Quality department with the management of scheduling and placement of site Quality personnel.
- Communicates and advises Project teams on company-wide quality challenges and concerns.
- Performs observations on construction and quality activities to ensure the Quality Program is being followed and acts when deviations are identified.
- Supports data driven Continuous Improvement initiatives to ensure Quality opportunities are captured.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Bachelor’s degree in management, construction management, engineering, quality, or related field or equivalent education and experience.
- Eight or more years of progressive related experience required. Experience in a construction quality leadership preferred.
- Excellent communication and people skills, as well as interpersonal and collaborative skills at all levels within the organization and clients.
- Must be able to articulate clear and concise messages including translating technical material when necessary.
- Must possess the leadership skills and experience necessary to train and develop Site Quality Coordinators.
- Must have a complete understanding of Standard Work including Lessons Learned, Work Methods, Standard Work Instructions.
- Must have complete understanding of Quality Control Inspection Instructions and Test Instructions.
- Must have a thorough understanding of root cause analysis techniques, nonconformance reporting, management, and data reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, as well as OEM manuals.
- Ability to quickly develop/obtain knowledge of renewable energy construction methods, engineering, and equipment and material selection.
- Acts as a leader in a group of peers and/or subordinates. Must be capable of orchestrating necessary conversations, meetings, presentations, etc.
- Competent with computer programs (MS Office) and analytical tools.
- Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Up to 75% travel required.

$110,617.00 – $160,396.00 Individual Compensation to be determined based on the applicant’s applicable experience and qualifications balanced against internal equity.
