Job Purpose: Quality Control Inspectors examine products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Quality Control Inspector approves parts and materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials. He or she approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor and approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work. Works in conjunction with CNC, Receiving and Purchasing to keep good material flowing.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor operations to ensure that they meet production standards
Recommend adjustments to the assembly or production process
Inspect, test, or measure materials or products being produced
Measure products with calipers, gauges, or micrometers
Accept or reject finished items
Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications
Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products
Report inspection and test data
Appropriately move parts post inspection physically and within the ERP system (SAP) based on the results and the parts flow.
Perform or verify calibrations and accuracy of various tools and gauges
Monitor quality standards for nearly all manufactured products.
Uses current revision inspection drawings often including GD&T tolerances.
Records the results of their inspections through test reports and notifies the responsible parties to analyze and correct production problems, internal or external vendors
Inspection frequencies vary by part number and prior quality success.
Inspector’s mark, tag, or note problems. They may reject defective items outright, send them for repair, or fix minor problems themselves. If the product is acceptable, the inspector certifies it.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required Minimum Qualifications

Must be a US Citizen
Education: High School Diploma or GED;
Physical Demand: Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time, must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
Hiring preference is given to those with prior Quality Control Inspecting with manufacturing knowledge and related field experience
Regular on-site attendance/punctuality is a necessary function of this position
Work environment: Warehouse exposure
Inspection drawings, including working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Satisfactorily complete the 90 probationary period
Excellent written communication skills (electronic)

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL

This job operated in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
Must demonstrate proficient fi ne motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
You must wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
