Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Solar Quality Control Technician. This role supports safe, code-compliant, and high-quality solar installations by reviewing site survey information before installation and performing quality inspections while work is in progress. The role identifies electrical corrections or project conditions that must be addressed, evaluates proposed equipment locations, verifies workmanship against approved plans and company standards, and documents deficiencies for timely correction. This is an internal quality-control role and does not replace inspections or approvals required from licensed professionals or authorities having jurisdiction.
Duties
- Pre-installation review. Review site survey files, photographs, measurements, electrical service information, proposed layouts, and related project documentation for completeness and technical accuracy before installation.
- Electrical readiness. Identify visible electrical conditions, service limitations, code concerns, or corrective work that should be addressed before or during installation and escalate findings to the appropriate leader.
- Equipment placement. Evaluate proposed locations for solar modules, inverters, batteries, disconnects, conduit, and related equipment, considering accessibility, safety, code clearance, constructability, and approved design requirements.
- In-process quality control. Conduct field inspections during installation to verify workmanship, materials, mounting, wiring methods, grounding and bonding, labeling, equipment clearances, and adherence to approved plans.
- Compliance verification. Assess work against applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, local requirements, manufacturer instructions, permit documents, and company installation standards.
- Deficiency management. Create clear punch-list items, document findings with photographs and written notes, communicate required corrections, and verify that identified deficiencies are resolved.
- Escalation. Immediately elevate serious safety hazards, significant code deviations, or unresolved quality concerns to Fernando Ruiz Baguer and recommend that affected work be paused when necessary pending management direction.
- Cross-functional coordination. Work closely with installation crews, team leaders, project coordination, design, engineering, and operations to clarify requirements and reduce rework, failed inspections, and service callbacks.
- Continuous improvement. Identify recurring workmanship or site-survey issues and share observations that can improve survey practices, installation standards, checklists, and field training.
- Safety. Follow all company safety policies, use required personal protective equipment, and maintain professional conduct at customer and project sites.
Qualifications
- Electrical and code foundation. Working knowledge of electrical systems and the National Electrical Code (NEC), with the ability to recognize common installation, safety, and compliance concerns.
- Relevant education. Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or active coursework toward a degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Field quality capability. At least one year of relevant experience in electrical work, solar, construction, inspection, or QA/QC, with strong attention to detail and the ability to document and communicate deficiencies clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with residential or commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) installations, battery storage systems, or electrical service upgrades.
- Previous QA/QC, inspection, commissioning, site-survey, or construction punch-list experience.
- OSHA 10 certification or other relevant safety or solar-industry training.

Pay: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour
