Specialist, Quality Systems – Full Time Days Jobs in Patchogue, NY at NYU Langone Suffolk

OBAYASHI CORPORATION is seeking a Quality Control Engineer / Office Engineer to join the North American Civil Group (NACG). You will support successful project execution by combining office-based engineering tasks with on-site quality control. You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with Obayashi’s quality standards and client specifications, ensuring smooth project progress, accurate documentation, and adherence to regulatory requirements. This role will be based in Boring, Oregon, reporting to the Project Manager.

Role & Responsibilities:

Perform daily field and office operations
Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management
Schedule subcontractors and vendors, work with suppliers as required, and facilitate the handling and expediting delivery of materials.
Maintain daily logs (written and photos) as required regarding job progress, material usage, etc.
Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities
Perform engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and resolve technical problems arising during construction.
Investigate problems and/or reported incidents; identify and recommend solutions/alternatives.
Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities), pricing of materials, etc.
Review the specification and develop an Inspection & Resting Plan (ITP)
Issue RFIs and clarify any questions regarding quality
Supervise the fieldwork according to technical specifications and contracts.
Manage recordkeeping such as RFI, as-built drawings,and submittals.
Schedule the 3rd party test lab according to the activity schedule
Collect the test data and monitor the trend to prevent quality issue
Work with the craft in the field and maintain good workmanship throughout the project
Issue NCRs if we experience some defect and develop the correction plan
Update the as-built drawings monthly
Organize all documents and maintain good communication with all stakeholders

Education & Work Experience:

Undergraduate degree in civil engineering or related field
5+ years of heavy construction experience
Have previous experience performing quality control (QC) on the job site.

Skills:

Strong Computer Skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Have good recordkeeping skills and organize various data.
Collect and analyze field data and propose improvement plans.
Strong interpersonal skills in specification requirements.

Other:

Able to work after hours, on weekends, and on-call when needed.
Able to multitask (QC engineer, Office engineer or Survey assistant)
May be located on-site full-time for specific projects.
Ability to walk and work on outdoor construction job sites.
Ability to carry and/or lift up to 40 lbs.
Have the ability to work underground.
Reliable transportation to and from work
Must have a valid Driver’s License

Anticipated Salary Range: $73,000 – 86,000 USD / yr
