Job Summary and Key Objectives:
Complete laboratory analysis to determine plant operational performance targets, research techniques to identify components of incoming raw product impurities and conduct experiments to validate new refining technologies.
Essential Functions:
Analyze incoming sugar samples and estimate processing costs through laboratory correlations.
Characterize sugar sample qualities and recommend available technologies to minimize processing costs.
Execute the DoE process for testing new technologies in conjunction with process engineer(s).
Analyze and present data.
Support Engineering & Refining teams with plant scale-up of new technologies.
Maintain a clean, orderly R&D laboratory.
Maintain well organized hard copy and soft copy of all laboratory records.

Requirements:
Preferred Education and Qualifications:
Minimum Associate of Science degree in Chemistry, Bachelor of Science preferred. Minimum one-year experience in an industrial or academic lab setting performing lab testing and analyzing experimental or production data. Practical Laboratory acumen. Ability to focus on several projects simultaneously and demonstrate the ability to manage priorities appropriately. Experience with a commitment to excellence, including Safety and Quality Assurance, and laboratory cleanliness and organization.
_Required Competencies and Skills: _

English language fluency – listening and comprehending, speaking, reading, and writing. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Work effectively in a collaborative environment, take the lead in assigned tasks, build teams to achieve goals. Literacy in SPC, proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Powerpoint.
Working Conditions and Environment:
