SUMMARY
:
This position is a leading role responsible for ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements and corporate standards through visual verification and mechanical inspection of incoming materials/components used in the operations of the LIRR. Verification/inspection will be implemented for existing critical and new components/materials for review and acceptance. Data obtained by verification/inspection can lead to vendor improvements. This is accomplished through the implementation of internal procedures used in the incoming inspection area, the documented LIRR Quality Management System (QMS), FRA, AAR and ISO.
This position will be responsible for assigning and prioritizing inspection activities for the Incoming Inspection Department personnel, assisting and supervising personnel as needed in the inspection and disposition of vendor material.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform incoming inspection activities for all LIRR material and components identified for inspection. Utilize specifications, drawings, and vendor information to determine material disposition.
Assign weekly activities to inspectors. Assist inspectors as needed in the evaluation and disposition of material. Document nonconformance reports and communicate issues to stakeholders.
Conduct necessary analysis, research, and prepare inspection reports promptly and accurately.
Ensure measuring equipment is calibrated before use and implement internal calibration procedures.
Develop standards regarding necessary steps and procedures for inspection and document procedures.
Supervise staff and ensure a safe working environment and adherence to safety policies.
All other assignments as requested by Senior Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or a related field. Alternatively, approximately 15 years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement, subject to approval.
Approximately 7 years of Quality Control experience and 2 years of satisfactory service as a LIRR Quality Assurance Incoming Inspection Supervisor.
Experience in the use and calibration of precision measuring tools.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and tolerances.
Strong computer skills for report preparation and quality records.
Familiarity with statistical process control techniques and Quality Assurance Standards.
Experience in trend analysis for materials and vendor performance.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong work ethic and professional integrity.
Ability to lead and motivate a staff of quality control personnel.
OTHER INFORMATION:
