Position Description
This position is responsible for the daily Quality Control duties of metal testing and sand testing in a safe, efficient, and profitable manner. A primary responsibility would be to maintain chemistries and mechanical properties of the iron within specification by completing testing in a timely manner and communicating results and variations in the testing with the supervisor and furnace operator. The position requires accurate, timely, and consistent testing of metal and sand processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
Prepare and polish metal tabs for testing
Operate the spectrometer to complete metal testing
Read and interpret spectrometer results ensuring iron is within specification, notifying the supervisor in a timely manner with out of spec results or undesired trends
Record and document metal testing results
Maintain the spectrometer equipment with regular cleaning and calibrations
Prepare test bars to be sent to third party lab daily
Review and record third party lab results, communicating any result out of specification in a timely manner with the supervisor and production scheduler
Data entry of chemistry results for Predict Program
Complete all required green sand and isocure core sand testing as required
Other duties as assigned supporting the Quality Management System
Job Specifications
High school education or equivalent preferred.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to initiate, organize and prioritize work.
Accuracy and attention to detail required.
Demonstrate time management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment.
Mental and Physical Requirements
This position must be able to interact and effectively communicate with employees at all levels. Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and walk to perform all essential job functions. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and use hands constantly to perform this job. Positions in this class require frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $17.00 – $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 48 per week
