Osborne Welding, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting fabricated structural steel to ensure materials and workmanship meet project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and company quality standards.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, can accurately read shop drawings, and takes pride in maintaining high standards for quality and documentation.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of fabricated structural steel.
- Review shop drawings, fabrication details, specifications, and applicable quality requirements.
- Verify dimensions, hole locations, weld sizes, fit-up, member orientation, and overall fabrication accuracy.
- Inspect welds for workmanship and conformance with applicable requirements.
- Confirm materials and fabricated components are properly identified and traceable when required.
- Identify and document nonconforming work and communicate issues clearly with fabrication personnel and management.
- Work with fitters, welders, and supervisors to resolve quality concerns before material leaves the shop.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and required quality documentation.
- Verify completed work is ready for coating, shipment, or the next stage of production.
- Assist with customer, third-party, and certification-related inspections when required.
- Follow and support Osborne Welding, Inc. quality control and safety procedures.
- Help promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the fabrication shop.
Qualifications:
- Experience in structural steel fabrication, welding inspection, or quality control preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and fabrication details.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication practices and welding processes.
- Ability to use tape measures, squares, levels, weld gauges, and other inspection tools accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize fabrication discrepancies.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain organized and accurate inspection documentation.
- Comfortable communicating quality concerns and working with production employees to resolve issues.
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
- Knowledge of AISC and AWS requirements is preferred.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is a plus but may not be required depending on experience.

Pay: $25.00 – $27.00 per hour
