Job description
NSF certified Commercial bakery seeking onsite food safety professional to facilitate SQF transition and manage program. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to be responsible for ensuring that all products meet the highest quality standards and comply with FDA regulations. This position requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of quality assurance processes, and experience with various measuring tools and equipment. Must be comfortable setting expectations and holding others accountable.
Primary Responsibilities
· Serve as the on-site Safe Quality Food (SQF) Practitioner
· Review the current food safety program and redesign it to fit SQF standards and regulations.
· Analyze production processes and identify potential areas of risk or non-compliance
· Maintain documentation of all quality assurance activities, including inspection reports, test results, and corrective action plans
· Conduct internal audits including walk through of facility, reviewing records, sanitation program, personnel compliance, etc. for improvement and to ensure adherence to quality control measures
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective actions for quality issues and ensure current process controls are met, activities are documented, and corrective actions are being followed.
· Conduct and document Quality Control testing. Monitor and evaluate product quality using various measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines, etc.
· Maintain SOP’s, HACCP programs, perform internal audits of procedures, and ensure SQF compliance.
· Oversee maintenance and sanitation supervisors, providing tasks, guidance, and structure with expectations and timelines – relating to food safety expectations.
· Follow up on assigned tasks to ensure completion and compliance with food safety standards.
· Train and educate employees on quality assurance processes, procedures, and best practices
· Review food safety policies and procedures with all outside vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance in facility and around product.
· Maintain material traceability system, including performing semi-annual Mock Recall exercises.
Requirements
· BS degree in Business, Chemistry or Food Science related field
· Certified Safe Quality Food (SQF) Practitioner (certified in SQF and HACCP)
· Minimum of 3 years Food Safety or Quality Systems experience
· Must have gone through multiple SQF third party approval audits.
· Experience with recalls, and ingredient testing.
· Ability to identify critical deficiencies, document findings and bring about corrective actions.
· Ability to solve problems quickly and make decisions.
· Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
· Stay up to date with industry trends and changes in regulations related to quality assurance
Skills
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and identify trends and patterns.
· In-depth knowledge of SQF requirements and FDA regulations and guidelines for quality assurance in the manufacturing industry
· Proficiency in using various measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines, etc.
· Experience with QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) processes and methodologies
· Experience with HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) principles
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot even minor deviations from quality standards
· Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
