LOCATION: Vietnam & SE Asia (Travel)
TYPE: Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Director of Quality
INDUSTRY: CPG · Custom Packaging
ABOUT SOURCEM
sourceM is a U.S.-based custom packaging and product development partner. We help high-growth CPG brands across supplements, personal care, pet and home goods categories design and manufacture technically complex packaging. We are backed by our own teams embedded in China and Vietnam, in-factory quality control, and multi-country sourcing that catalog suppliers simply can’t match.
In short, we are the supercharged sourcing and product-development department our clients don’t have to build themselves.
THE ROLE
We’re hiring a Supplier Quality Assurance Manager to own quality across our supply chain in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, from a supplier’s in-process controls through what actually ships to the client.
This role sits at the center of our sourcing operation: auditing and qualifying suppliers, strengthening their quality systems, driving root-cause analysis and corrective action, and building risk-prevention plans that keep our food-contact packaging compliant with FDA, EU FCM and PPWR requirements. The role also owns our internal quality systems and SOPs against ISO 9001 and uses supply chain and product quality data to drive long-term improvement.
Expect to spend 70–80% of your time on the ground in factories across the region.
Put plainly, we need someone who prevents problems on the factory floor, not someone who explains them after they’ve shipped.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
Supplier & Supply Chain Quality
– Own quality across the supply chain, with particular focus on suppliers’ in-process and outgoing quality controls.
– Identify quality issues and control weaknesses rooted in suppliers’ manufacturing processes and drive them through to verified closure.
– Establish and enforce supplier qualification, rating, performance review and de-listing standards.
– Audit new and existing suppliers across Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
– Coach supplier teams hands-on in SPC, root-cause analysis (8D) and CAPA to build lasting quality capability.
Quality Systems & Compliance
– Ensure sourceM’s quality systems, operational workflows and SOPs meet ISO 9001 requirements.
– Guide core suppliers in building and improving their own quality systems to meet product, client and regulatory requirements.
– Maintain effective and stable quality systems across both sourceM and its supplier base.
Risk Prevention & Corrective Action
– Identify quality, safety and compliance risks across the full product lifecycle, particularly for food-contact packaging in plastic, glass, metal and paper.
– Translate FDA, EU FCM, PPWR, product specifications and client requirements into practical prevention mechanisms, inspection criteria and supplier control plans.
– Develop standardized preventive, corrective and improvement plans with measurable assessment criteria.
– Drive permanent corrective action for recurring quality problems and emerging risks, with the goal of eliminating hazards at the source before they reach the client.
Product Quality & Reporting
– Assess factories for project fit and confirm their ability to meet product and client requirements.
– Participate in new-product risk assessments and ensure factory-side risks are resolved before production begins.
– Lead factory kick-off meetings on key projects, establishing quality expectations and addressing anticipated challenges before production.
– Collect, review and distribute required technical and regulatory documentation for products and factories.
– Own supply chain and product quality data analysis and produce weekly and monthly quality reporting.
What Success Looks Like in Year One
– Quality incident rates are trending down, with standardized supplier controls, corrective-action processes and measurable performance criteria in place across the core supplier base.
– Supplier qualification, auditing, rating and performance management are consistently applied across Vietnam and Southeast Asia, with sourceM’s and core suppliers’ quality systems improving in parallel.
– Risk-prevention plans and inspection criteria are established across our packaging categories, supported by consistent quality reporting and permanent corrective action on recurring issues.
What We’re Looking For
– Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in quality management, materials science, supply chain management or a related field.
– At least 5 years in supply chain quality management within food-contact products or consumer goods manufacturing, including at least 3 years managing a team.
– Experience with a U.S. buying office or cross-border supply chain quality management is a strong advantage.
– Hands-on implementation experience with ISO 9001, GMP, HACCP, BRC, FSSC 22000 and comparable quality and food-safety management systems.
– Proven experience in supplier auditing, process correction, compliance risk identification and preventive quality control across multi-material products, including plastic (PP, PE, PET, PS), glass, metal and paper.
– Ability to independently build supply chain quality and supplier management systems for food-contact product lines.
– Ability to run process FMEA by packaging category and translate findings into preventive inspection plans and supplier control requirements.
– Deep command of 8D, Ishikawa (fishbone), 5-Why and fault tree analysis.
– Fluency with control charts (X-bar/R, p-chart, c-chart) and process capability analysis (Cpk/Ppk).
– A track record of leading cross-functional teams to permanent corrective action rather than temporary fixes.
– Fluent English and Vietnamese, spoken and written, including the ability to draft quality reports in both languages without support. Mandarin is an advantage.
– Meticulous and accountable, willing to hold the line on standards under pressure and comfortable working extensively on the factory floor.
Why Join Us
– A hands-on, high-ownership role where you set standards, coach suppliers directly and see corrective action through to genuine closure.
– Direct exposure across a diverse food-contact packaging portfolio and a meaningful role in shaping how sourceM’s quality systems scale with the business.
– Compensation commensurate with experience
– Competitive benefits package.
