JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for Armor’s Quality Management Systems and its related compliance. The Quality Assurance Manager manages quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and best practices to assure a quality system of continuous improvement, conformance and effectiveness.
Responsibilities include:
Daily management of the company’s ISO 9001: 2008 Quality System including assuring continued compliance to the standard and management of the 3rd party audit process. Acts as the Management Representative for ISO 9001.
Daily management of Quality department personnel and the company’s quality inspection and product release processes, including in-process inspections as well as inbound raw materials and vendor supplied products
Management of the Corrective Action Process to insure execution of permanent solutions to resolve known quality issues
Development of proactive quality assurance plans by identifying critical process control points and preventative measures, establishes critical control process limits, and monitors operational procedures
Validation of quality processes and effectiveness through surveillance audits, investigating customer complaints, and collaborating with Operations to insure adequate manufacturing and training methods
Development, analysis, and management of the company’s cost of poor quality and other quality related Key Performance Initiatives (KPI’s)
Sign-off on the Ship Release Form ensuring that all Quality checklists have been completed to assure no to low warranty cost realization.
Manage all instrument calibrations
Handle all PPAP, ISIR, and compliances and certifications
Additional items as assigned by manager
PRINCIPAL CONTACTS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE COMPANY
This position interacts with the Director of Engineering, Plant Manager, Director of Project Management, Project Managers, Manufacturing Supervisors, Shop Personnel, HR Director, Division Presidents, Quality Inspectors, and Customers.
COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 5 years of recent experience in managing a manufacturing Quality Assurance department; including QS 9000 or AS 9000 systems
Strong background in deployment of Kaizen, Six Sigma and Value Stream Improvement processes with a track record of change management and driving a positive quality culture within an organization
Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities
Ability to interface effectively with external and internal customers
Capability to lead major quality initiatives that positively impact Operations
Very strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence and motivate others
Proven leadership and business acumen skills
Critical thinking and creative problem solving skills combined with sound judgment
High level of working knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 quality systems
Ability to develop high-performance quality teams to drive positive business results

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Operations Management and 5+ years of prior experience in Quality Assurance management; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
ASQ CQE Certification preferred
Preferred attributes: Black Belt Six-Sigma Certification, 5S experience
EQUIPMENT USED
This position will use a personal computer, telephone, copier, quality measurement tools, etc.
WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
This position will be working on the manufacturing floor and in an office environment.
