Summary

Perform inspections and tests on incoming material, in process and finished product to ensure that the quality standards and process controls are being met throughout the manufacturing process. Generate the appropriate documentation, records, and reports. Support Quality, Technical support, Engineering, and Manufacturing as needed.

Under general supervision, assures that the product is within required specifications. Maintain a good working relationship with all involved in sales/marketing, engineering, production, and management to allow for timely resolutions of any questions or problems about or with product specifications. Maintain good interdepartmental relations and maintain regular contact with shop floor employees and suppliers as required. This position must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As part of the departmental team, the QC TECH will complete and assist the team in daily tasks as assigned and support the department through:

Perform quality control inspections/tests on incoming material, product work in process, Final assembly and first article inspections as required. QC testing includes pre and postproduction tests.
Troubleshoot and evaluate Rejected and/or RMA items, to determine if warranty is applicable. Maintain Reject material logs, material disposition and participate in material review board meetings. To include material disposition and supplier follow ups with purchasing agent.
Generate inspection data and maintain Quality inspection logs, for collection and data entry. Maintain inspection statistical information of all QC inspection data collected.
Generate nonconformance reports (NCR) and initiate corrective actions as needed.
Proactive approach informing and recommending solutions to management on QC issues. Generate engineering change request (ECR) as required for continuous improvement.
Maintain calibration and asset control, ensuring all equipment used for monitoring, measuring and testing on the production floor is calibrated and functioning properly at required frequency/intervals.
Assist in the development, revision, implementation and documentation of old/new processes while providing feedback on a weekly basis to aid in production, quality and training while initiating best manufacturing practices raising productivity and lowering costs.
Run controlled experiments under direction of management, engineering, R&D and manufacturing.
Coaching and promoting a positive attitude and safe work atmosphere in accordance with company and OSHA policies
Assist and cross train in technical support, to become familiarized with warranty issues.
Occasional traveling to job sites as required. 5-10% of the time
Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by department manager.

Education/Skills

A.A.S Technical degree minimum or 2-4 years of relevant experience in Quality control inspections and/or manufacturing.
Proficient in the use of mechanical inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, go/no-go gages and other inspection equipment.
Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
