About the Role
We are looking for a Supplier Quality Manager who is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the supplier quality management system. This role ensure supplier performance meets company quality standards, minimizes risks, and supports business objectives.
This role is based in China and will be a hybrid role, travelling to suppliers in Shanghai, Anhui, Wenzhou, Jiangsu, Tiajin.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute the supplier quality strategy aligned with company objectives
- Act as the primary point of contact for supplier quality at the management level
2. Supplier Quality Management
- Oversee the full supplier lifecycle: onboarding, qualification, performance monitoring, and development
- Ensure suppliers comply with quality standards (ISO, ASME, EN, or equivalent)
- Approve new suppliers through qualification processes, supporting company to expand sourcing capabilities
- Visit suppliers to check Quality of products
- Work through 3rd party inspection service (Intertek China) when necessary
3. Supplier Performance & Improvement
- Monitor and analyze supplier KPIs (NCR, OTIF, COPQ…)
- Lead supplier improvement initiatives and development programs
- Drive resolution of major supplier quality issues
- Ensure effective closure of supplier quality issues with root cause and corrective actions
4. Audit & Compliance
- Define and execute supplier audit plans (on-site and remote)
- Ensure compliance with internal quality systems and customer requirements
- Review and approve audit reports prepared by SQE team and 3rd party Inspection service company
- Escalate critical supplier issues to senior management
5. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams
- Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure supplier readiness
- Support sourcing decisions with supplier quality and risk assessments
6. Process & System Improvement
- Standardize supplier quality processes (SOPs, work instructions, templates)
- Drive digitalization and data analytics for supplier performance tracking
- Continuously improve supplier quality management systems
Works with: Procurement, Engineering, Suppliers, 3rd party Inspection service
Education, Work Experience & Skills required, Personal Qualities (Selection Criteria)
Education:
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding background is preferred
Work Experience and Skills
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Supplier Quality
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role
- Experience working with global suppliers is preferred
- Must-have: experience in Mechanical fabrication industry, Piping fabrication is preferred
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and related standards (ISO 3834, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 37301).
- Six Sigma Green Belt certified is preferred
- Strong problem-solving tools (8D, 5Why, Fishbone)

Additional Requirements
Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats, including technical discussions, reporting, documentation, and correspondence with colleagues and clients. Capable of understanding complex instructions, participating in meetings, and preparing detailed reports or presentations.
