Position Summary:
Design, plan, and supervise.
Develop and implement improved ways to extract, process, and use raw materials.
Develop new materials that both improve the performance of products and take advantage of advances in technology.
Analyze the impact of the products they develop or the systems they design on the environment and on people using them.
Determine the causes of breakdowns.
Test manufactured products to maintain quality.
Estimate the time and cost to complete projects.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for all internal and supplier aspects of quality engineering techniques and methods in assigned areas or projects with minimal supervision.
Provides support to manufacturing for supplier quality improvement and new and changed product launch, especially after product launches.
Interfaces with Product Design, Service, Purchasing, ME, YMUS, and YMC.
Support Purchasing Department in the area of advanced APQP (Advanced Quality Planning) on new and changed model introductions.
Help suppliers develop and implement process controls (Control Plan and PFMEA), SPC, and other statistical methods after new and changed product launches.
Develop and implement quality metrics to monitor internal and supplier quality performance after new and changed product launches.
Perform problem solving and lead problem solving activities at suppliers and within YMMC after new and changed product launches utilizing systemic problem solving and root cause analysis.
Perform on-site supplier process audit and internal quality systems, and evaluate the results based on data to take appropriate actions after new and changed product launches.
Initiate and review supplier corrective actions for problem resolution after new and changed product launches.
Develop and document supplier quality systems, standards, and procedures as required.
Evaluate the supplier quality related deviations.
Report the supplier quality status to the YMMC management members.
Qualifications
Education / Experience:
4 year technical degree (mechanical or industrial or quality assurance engineering) with a minimum of 6-8 years experience in Quality Engineering in either Supplier Quality or Process Quality Assurance field, or 15-20 years equivalent experience.
Other
Required Skills:
Demonstrated application of engineering skills and problem solving techniques at both suppliers and within the manufacturing processes.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with applied experience working in a team environment.
Thorough understanding of government regulation for safe work practices and ISO 9000/9001 procedures.
