Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan) Inspector to join our team on a part-time basis to ensure compliance with environmental regulations on construction sites. In this role, you will conduct weekly stormwater inspections plus additional inspections following qualifying rain events, and verify adherence to approved plans to protect water quality during construction activities. Your expertise will help promote sustainable construction practices while maintaining regulatory compliance across public infrastructure projects.
Schedule
- Hourly position
- One scheduled site visit per week to conduct routine SWPPP inspections
- Additional site visits as needed within 24 hours of any rain event producing 0.5 inches or more of precipitation
Duties
- Conduct weekly inspections of construction sites, and additional inspections within 24 hours of any rain event producing 0.5 inches or more of precipitation, to verify implementation of SWPPP measures and identify potential environmental risks
- Review construction plans, specifications, and schematics to ensure stormwater management requirements are incorporated and followed
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with federal, state, and local stormwater regulations and building codes
- Collect data through site observations, photographs, and detailed reports to document inspection findings and track progress
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues related to stormwater management and environmental compliance
- Perform quality control checks on construction practices related to erosion control, sedimentation barriers, and pollution prevention measures
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to assess site conditions and ensure proper implementation of stormwater controls
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for report writing, data analysis, and documentation
- Extensive construction site experience with a focus on public works or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of construction regulations, building codes, and environmental standards related to stormwater management
- Experience in conducting quality inspections and site assessments for civil infrastructure projects
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and construction plans accurately
- Knowledge of construction safety regulations and regulatory compliance requirements
- Skilled in analyzing technical data, performing site inspections, and documenting findings clearly and thoroughly
- Familiarity with construction management processes including contracts, specifications, and quality control procedures
- Ability to work effectively on construction sites involving pipelines or other civil infrastructure components
- Availability to respond promptly to rain events, including evenings/weekends as needed
