Job Title: Product Development Scientist
Employment Status: Full Time
Purpose: As our Product Development Scientist, you’ll be at the heart of creating innovative tea products, driving them from concept to market. Your role is crucial in ensuring our products meet consumer expectations and business objectives, all while maintaining a passion for learning and a meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
New Product Development:
Develop new tea products, including concept ideation, formulation, and prototype creation.
Recipe Formulation:
Use your knowledge of food science principles to formulate tea blends that meet nutritional, flavor, and quality specifications. Create bills of material on ERP systems.
Maintaining Standards:
Ensure organoleptic standards of finished products and maintain commercial viability for new projects.
Quality Assurance:
Collaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure products are produced according to standards and specifications. Perform qualitative analysis to ensure compliance with internal quality standards, allergen control, cross-contamination control, and relevant beverage/tea industry regulations.
Market Research:
Conduct market analysis and stay abreast of industry trends to identify opportunities for new product development or improvements.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with marketing, sales, and operations teams to align product development efforts with overall business strategies.
Project Management:
Manage timelines effectively to deliver products on schedule and within budget.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all products meet regulatory requirements and standards for safety, labeling, and quality.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field (degree is a must).
2-3 years of experience in product development, preferably within the food or beverage industry.
Knowledge and passion for tea, including its varieties, processing methods, and flavor profiles.
Good sensory skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP systems such as Net Suite preferred.
Ability to translate consumer insights and market trends into successful product innovations.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across different functions and with external partners.
Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality assurance principles.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
