Position Summary
This position supports the philosophy of zero defects and continuous improvement by participating in Advanced Quality Planning, Continuous Improvement Initiatives, documenting quality procedures and leading problem solving teams. This position reports to the Operations Manager and has direct reports.
Qualifications (Expertise in Discipline)
Four year technical degree or ASQ certified quality engineer with a two year technical degree and five years minimum experience in quality control.
Experienced with Advanced Quality Planning (APQP)
Experience leading problem solving teams.
Strong Statistical Process Control (SPC) knowledge
Experience with ISO-9000 or TS16949 based quality system
Demonstrated ability to use a wide variety of gages
Demonstrated experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and associated documentation.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred
Demonstrated experience with Design of Experiments (DOE)
Experience with Infinity QS SPC software
Experience programming Microsoft Access database software.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing Techniques
Managerial experience
Essential Job Functions (Job-Specific Knowledge/Skills)
Lead teams to complete internal and external Corrective Action Responses utilizing appropriate problem solving techniques. Maintain internal tracking systems. Communicate results of the analysis to customers.
Perform internal audits and maintain auditing records and document results. Capable of training others in auditing methods.
Assist in developing and maintaining of the Quality Management System and ensure systems are in compliance with established standards.
Participate with others with registrar surveillance audits and act as the management representative for a portion of the Quality Management System.
Develop and implement standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation. Work in collaboration with others to develop new gauging equipment and processes.
Devise sampling procedures and plans. Develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality performance data.
Demonstrated capability for documenting the APQP Process, interacting with others to:
Assisting in defining critical/important part and process parameters and characteristics.
Set-up Control Plans and Inspection Instructions for new parts and new processes.
Completing Process FMEA’s, Process Flow Diagrams, and PPAP or FAI documentation required by customers
Completing gage R& R studies
Capable of using measurement equipment including Smart Scope, Optical comparators, Hardness Tester and other associated gages.

Work is performed indoors. Indoor areas are generally well lit. Temperature/humidity can vary greatly depending on weather, ranging from 60o to 100oF. There is occasional exposure to grease/oil, tight/cramped spaces, dust, hazardous materials, unpleasant noises, smells, bodily injuries, electrical and/or mechanical hazards.
