Job Purpose:
The Endoscope Technician – Level 1 is responsible for performing incoming inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic functional assessments of flexible endoscopes in accordance with OEM standards. The role ensures accurate condition assessment, supports cost estimation, and maintains strict adherence to quality and compliance requirements.
The technician operates under supervision and does not perform internal repairs, forming the foundation of the endoscope repair competency pathway.
Main Tsks/Responsibilities:
Inspection and Assessment
· Perform incoming inspection of endoscopes including visual, functional, and leak testing.
· Assess device condition and support accurate quotation and repair decisions.
· Identify visible defects, wear patterns, and potential failure points.
Preventative Maintenance
· Perform cleaning, basic servicing, and preventative maintenance activities as defined by OEM procedures.
· Ensure scopes meet baseline functional and safety requirements prior to repair or release.
Documentation and Reporting
· Accurately record inspection findings and device condition.
· Review customer documentation to ensure all requirements are captured.
Quality and Compliance
· Adhere to ISO 13485, OEM standards, and internal SOPs.
· Maintain strict control of inspection processes and documentation.
Tools and Equipment
· Ensure inspection tools and test equipment are calibrated and fit for use.
LIMITATIONS OF ROLE (CRITICAL FOR CONTROL):
· No internal disassembly of endoscopes.
· No component replacement beyond inspection-level activities.
· All findings subject to review by higher certification level.
Special Knowledge and
Skills:
Technical Expertise and Equipment Knowledge
- Endoscope System Understanding:
Foundational knowledge of flexible endoscope construction, including insertion tube, distal tip, control body, light transmission systems, and internal channels. - Inspection Methodology:
Competent in performing structured incoming inspections including visual inspection, leak testing, articulation testing, and functional verification in accordance with OEM procedures. - Fault Recognition:
Ability to identify common failure modes such as external wear, bending rubber damage, leakage, articulation stiffness, and image degradation indicators. - Diagnostic Tools Usage:
