Electrical Inspector – JFK Airport Infrastructure Projects
Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Electrical Inspector with 5-10 years of experience to oversee the construction and installation of electrical systems for various infrastructure projects at JFK Airport. This role ensures that all electrical work meets local and national codes, industry standards, and project specifications. The Electrical Inspector will play a key role in maintaining quality, safety, and compliance across all electrical components and systems within a large-scale construction project.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Inspections: Conduct comprehensive inspections of electrical installations, including wiring, panels, transformers, lighting, and grounding systems, to ensure adherence to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant safety standards.
Code Compliance & Safety: Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards. Provide guidance to the construction team to uphold electrical safety requirements.
Testing & Verification: Perform routine tests and inspections to verify system functionality, identify potential hazards, and resolve issues such as improper wiring, grounding faults, or defective installations.
Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with electrical engineers, project managers, and construction supervisors to coordinate inspections and ensure the seamless integration of electrical tasks within the overall project timeline.
Issue Resolution: Identify non-compliance or deficiencies during inspections and collaborate with the project team to implement corrective actions while minimizing construction delays.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, compliance checks, and corrective measures. Prepare and submit detailed reports for quality control and project documentation.
Quality Control: Ensure that all electrical materials, equipment, and installation methods align with project specifications, industry standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
Training & Mentorship: Provide on-site guidance to electrical contractors and personnel, promoting best practices and reinforcing safety protocols.
Qualifications
Extensive experience as an electrical inspector, contractor, or in a similar role within large-scale construction projects; experience in airport or commercial construction is required.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, wiring, lighting, grounding, and control systems.
Deep understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local regulations, and safety standards such as OSHA.
Detail-oriented with a systematic approach to inspections and problem-solving.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and clearly report findings.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification as a Licensed Electrical Inspector or equivalent (e.g., NICET, State Certification).
Previous experience working on electrical systems for airport infrastructure or large public works projects.
Familiarity with project management software and documentation tools.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in diverse environments, including indoor and outdoor settings within a busy construction site.
