Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Jira Testing Tool Administrator to manage and optimize the Jira environment for test management, defect tracking, and workflow automation. The role involves configuring Jira to support QA, testing, and Agile project management while ensuring seamless integration with other tools used in the software development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Jira administration, test management tools, and automation, along with a deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and DevOps processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Jira Administration & Configuration

Configure and customize Jira workflows, schemes, fields, dashboards, and reports for testing and QA needs.

Manage Jira plugins, add-ons, and integrations with test management tools like Xray, Zephyr, or TestRail.

Implement role-based access controls and permissions to ensure proper security and compliance.

Optimize Jira performance and troubleshoot issues related to test execution, defect tracking, and automation workflows.

2. Test Management & Defect Tracking

Support QA teams by setting up test case management frameworks within Jira.

Ensure Jira is used effectively for test execution, bug tracking, and reporting.

Define automated workflows to streamline defect life cycle and change management processes.

3. System Maintenance & Performance Monitoring

Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and apply updates or patches.

Perform routine maintenance, data backups, and upgrades.

4. Integration & Automation

Integrate Jira with CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Selenium).

Automate test execution and reporting using Jira APIs and scripts.

Work with developers and testers to enhance test automation and tracking within Jira.

5. User Support & Training

Provide Jira training and guidance to QA engineers, testers, developers, and project managers.

Serve as the primary Jira administrator, addressing user issues, best practices, and system optimizations.

Create knowledge base articles, training materials, and documentation for Jira best practices.

6. Reporting & Analytics

Generate real-time reports and dashboards to track test coverage, defect trends, and project quality metrics.

Ensure test execution results are visible and actionable for project stakeholders.

Implement automated reporting mechanisms for key QA and testing KPIs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Atlassian Jira Administrator certification is preferred.

ISTQB or Agile testing certification is a plus.

Technical Skills & Expertise

5 – 10 years of experience in Jira administration with a focus on test management and QA.

Hands-on experience with Jira plugins such as Xray, Zephyr, TestRail, or Adaptavist.

Strong knowledge of test case management, bug tracking, and Agile methodologies.

Experience integrating Jira with CI/CD tools, test automation frameworks, and DevOps environments.

Proficiency in JQL (Jira Query Language) for custom reporting and dashboard creation.

Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Groovy, Python, or JavaScript) for Jira automation is a plus.
