Job Description: Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer
Location: Department of State (DOS), Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL)
Work Mode: Remote
Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance
Position Summary
The QA Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and functionality of software systems and applications supporting the DOS INL program. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing, implementing, and executing test plans for complex systems, with a strong preference for experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or the Power Platform. This role involves collaborating with developers, business analysts, and end-users to identify defects, validate fixes, and ensure smooth software deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure software meets functional and technical requirements.
Perform manual and automated testing for web-based applications and systems, with a focus on Dynamics 365 or Power Platform-based solutions.
Identify, log, and track software defects using issue-tracking tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
Collaborate with development teams to ensure timely resolution of defects and verify that fixes meet quality standards.
Conduct performance, scalability, and regression testing to ensure system reliability under various conditions.
Participate in requirement reviews, design discussions, and code reviews to provide input on potential testing challenges.
Validate integrations between Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and other enterprise systems.
Ensure compliance with security and data governance standards in all testing procedures.
Create and maintain comprehensive QA documentation, including test cases, test data, and defect reports.
Stay current with emerging QA methodologies, tools, and technologies to continuously improve testing processes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including manual and automated testing.
Proficiency in QA tools such as Selenium, Postman, or similar testing frameworks.
Experience with bug-tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps).
Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, and DevOps practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience testing solutions built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 or the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate).
Familiarity with testing APIs and integrations, including tools like REST APIs.
Knowledge of data analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI.
Working knowledge of security and compliance standards relevant to federal programs.
ISTQB or other relevant QA certifications.
