Position Summary

As the Quality Control Manager at our Mansfield, TX facility, you will lead and oversee all Quality Assurance (QA) and Food Safety activities, ensuring compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and other pertinent regulatory guidelines. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement in product quality, managing the QA team, and cultivating a positive, proactive culture that upholds Don Lee Farms’ standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management
Direct and manage the Quality Control Department at our Mansfield, TX facility, setting clear objectives and performance standards.
Provide training, coaching, and development for QA staff, ensuring alignment with company food safety and quality goals and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Compliance
Maintain compliance with GMPs, FDA, USDA, and other relevant industry and third-party standards (e.g., SQF).
Serve as PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) to oversee risk-based preventive controls.
Prepare for and lead external audits, including those by customers and regulatory agencies.
Quality Assurance & Food Safety
Develop, implement, and update the facility’s HACCP Plan and prerequisite programs.
Oversee daily inspections, audits, and testing (analytical, biological, physical) to ensure product quality and safety.
Investigate and address customer complaints, non-conformances, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality and food safety concerns promptly.
Process & Continuous Improvement
Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for process and product improvements.
Update and create SOPs, methods, and other QA/QC documentation to enhance operational efficiency and consistency.
Manage pest control, sanitation programs, and calibration activities for all relevant equipment.
Track key and report quality and safety metrics to company management.
Collaboration & Communication
Partner with R&D, Production, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure cohesive integration of quality initiatives.
Communicate quality issues, corrective actions, and project updates to all levels of the organization.
Foster a positive and engaging work environment based on Don Lee Farms family-run culture, encouraging teamwork and respect among all staff.
Additional Duties
Perform internal and external audits (e.g., suppliers).
Conduct performance reviews, enforce disciplinary actions, and handle incident investigations as needed.
Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by plant management or company management

Qualifications / Work Experience

Experience & Expertise
Minimum 5 years of experience in a quality leadership role (frozen food industry in a USDA facility).
Demonstrated success managing a QA team, preferably with 3+ direct reports.
Proven track record of hosting and responding to regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA) and client audits.
Experience in HACCP and SQF
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of regulations and GMPs.
Hands-on experience in food safety programs, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Comfortable using and learning new digital tools and technologies.
Soft Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment, effectively manage multiple priorities.
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.

Pay: $50,000.00 – $90,800.00 per year
