Position Summary
Primarily responsible for receiving, first piece, in-process and final inspections as related to the manufacture of metal components that are supplied globally and the production plans necessary to support them. The position reports to the Quality Manager and works directly with Production, Engineering and Purchasing to develop workable plans that maximize customer service levels and minimize total cost of quality.
Primary Job Responsibilities
First article inspections, in-process verifications and final inspection using calipers, micrometers and other metrology tools.
Perform part layouts using calipers, micrometers and other metrology tools.
Perform Layered Process Audits.
Secondary Job Responsibilities
Assist in the creation of PPAP, APQP and work instructions for new and existing products.
Assist in managing and maintaining internal scorecards and metrics.
Address and resolve vendor, customer and internal quality and non-conformance issues.
Perform other tasks as required.
Education/Skills Required
Education: Associate’s Degree preferred (Work Experience will be considered)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Automotive Quality Systems and hands-on plant floor inspection experience.
Sense of urgency and attention to detail.
Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints and GD&T tolerancing; and have the ability to interpret statistical data and product specifications.
Proven organizational skills in order to prioritize and balance multiple projects and coordinate project timelines to ensure timely completion with minimal supervision.
Understanding of the principles of metrology and use of measuring equipment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with customers and suppliers in a professional manner.
Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office software suite experience.
