Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated CLIA/COLA Lab Senior Technician for our state-of-the-art Toxicology Lab specializing in liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) testing and PCR testing. The General Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of our soon-to-be COLA-certified laboratory, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is critical in maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and efficiency in toxicology testing and PCR testing.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Oversight: Supervise laboratory personnel, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations, to ensure proper execution of LC-MS testing procedures, and PCR testing.
Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure compliance with CLIA standards and accuracy of test results.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the laboratory operates in strict accordance with CLIA regulations and guidelines, as well as any applicable state and local requirements.
Hands on Testing and Equipment Validation: Oversee the performance and validation of LC-MS testing methods for toxicology, and PCR technologies ensuring precision and reproducibility of results.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues related to equipment, assays, and methodologies in LC-MS and PCR workflows.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough records of all laboratory activities, including test results, quality control data, and equipment maintenance logs.
Collaboration: Work closely with the lab director, technical supervisor on consulting basis, medical staff, and other team members to optimize lab performance and support clinical decision-making.
Safety Protocols: Ensure the lab adheres to safety policies and procedures to protect staff and maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology, or related scientific discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a CLIA-certified laboratory, with specific expertise in LC-MS Toxicology and PCR testing.
Certifications: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent is strongly preferred.
Knowledge: Extensive understanding of CLIA/COLA regulations, toxicology testing, and LC-MS and PCR methodologies.
Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and precision in laboratory operations.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
Experience with advanced LC-MS instrumentation and software for Agilent LC-MS, and Carolina Toxicology Chemistry analyzer, BIO Rad PCR equipment.
Familiarity with toxicology sample preparation techniques.
Strong communication skills for training, mentoring staff, and collaboration across departments.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in instrumentation or testing.
Work Environment
The role requires working in a laboratory setting with exposure to biological samples and chemical reagents. Strict adherence to safety protocols is mandatory. This position may occasionally require extended hours to meet operational needs.

Pay: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour
