This listing is for the position of Quality Control Inspector – Vegetation Management with Rancho Tree Service in our in North County San Diego+ Orange County operations. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Quality Control Inspector to join our team and ensure the continued success of our field operations.
Position Overview:
The Quality Control Inspector will oversee internal quality control of vegetation management work performed in the field within North County San Diego and Orange County. This role involves conducting regular inspections, identifying and documenting quality or safety concerns, and ensuring all inspected work is completed according to specifications, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines. In addition to fieldwork, the role will require some office-based tasks such as data entry, reporting, and analysis. Therefore, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic analytics is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Inspections: Conduct accurate and thorough on-site inspections of vegetation management activities, including tree trimming, land clearing, and vegetation control, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project specifications. Patrolling distribution or transmission circuits to ensure prescribed work is completed.
Documentation & Reporting: Review work orders, site plans, and documentation to confirm that all work is completed accurately and on schedule. Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings, discrepancies, and corrective actions.
Quality & Safety Oversight: Identify potential quality issues or safety hazards in the field and work with field crews and management to resolve them in a timely manner.
Data Analysis & Office Work: Assist with office-based tasks, including using Microsoft Excel to track inspection results, analyze data trends, and generate reports. Basic analytics skills to interpret inspection data and provide insights for improving quality control processes.
Collaboration: Provide feedback to field crews and management to improve operational efficiency and quality. Collaborate with supervisors and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.
Audit & Compliance: Audit completed projects to verify compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure all projects meet industry standards for safety and quality.
Qualifications:
ISA Certification: ISA Certified Arborist required. TRAQ and/or Utility designations strongly preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required; A.A. or B.A. in Environmental Studies, Forestry, Biology, other natural sciences preferred.
Additional certifications in quality control, vegetation management, or related fields are a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in vegetation management, landscaping, tree services, or a related field.
Strong understanding of vegetation management techniques, tree care, and industry regulations.
Experience in quality control or inspections, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to address discrepancies effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis skills for reporting and tracking inspection data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create detailed reports and communicate findings effectively.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate with a team.
A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to travel to work sites throughout North County, San Diego.

Ability to learn and use company- or job-specific software systems.
Ability to read and follow maps.
