We are seeking a QA Engineer to join a product-driven digital platform company focused on building high-traffic consumer software experiences. This is a full-time opportunity for a quality-focused engineer who can blend manual testing, automation, and cross-functional collaboration to help deliver reliable, scalable software. The ideal candidate brings strong experience testing modern web applications and thrives in an environment where quality is treated as a shared responsibility across engineering and product teams. U.S. work authorization is required. No visa sponsorship is available at this time.

Job Title: QA Engineer, Backend Testing

Location: Hybrid (New York City)

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive quality efforts for a product team, helping ensure software is reliable, maintainable, and production-ready
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers to define testing strategy, functional requirements, and non-functional requirements across new feature development
  • Test web applications, supporting systems, and data flows to validate end-to-end product quality
  • Design, build, and maintain automated test coverage for backend and event driven architecture workflows
  • Execute manual and automated testing across feature releases, regression cycles, and production issues
  • Identify, isolate, document, and track software defects, partnering closely with engineering teams through resolution
  • Support incident response and troubleshooting efforts related to bugs, defects, and operational issues in production or staging environments

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance, test engineering, or a related QA-focused role
  • Experience testing front-end applications, backend workflows, and data or event-driven systems (MUST HAVE)
  • Strong experience with both manual testing and automated testing methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with modern test automation toolsboht across WEB (Playwirght Or Cypress) and MOBILE (Appium, Branch, Appsflyer)
  • Ability to write and maintain automated test scripts for modern web applications
  • Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 + Full Comprehensive Benefits
  • Additional compensation may be included depending on overall package and experience

Additional Information

  • Hybrid role based in New York City
  • Experience in consumer product, subscription software, digital media, or EdTech environments is a plus
  • Candidates with a strong automation background and a product-minded QA approach are especially encouraged to apply
