Business Analyst – Payments Domain

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst (Payments Domain) with strong expertise in Wire Transfers, ACH, FX transactions, and regulatory compliance to support enterprise payment platforms.

The BA will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring high-quality requirement definition, functional clarity, and end-to-end traceability across the payment lifecycle. The role emphasizes AI-enabled insights, data-driven validation, domain-led quality assurance, and strong testing and sign-off governance.

Strong hands-on exposure to PEP+ (Mainframe-based), CNS (Consolidated Server), and Payment Exchange platforms is mandatory.

Base Location: Mumbai

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Analysis & Requirement Management

  • Elicit, analyse, and document business requirements for:
  • Wire Transfers (Domestic & International)
  • ACH processing and clearing cycles
  • FX and cross-currency transactions
  • Prepare and manage:
  • BRD, FRD, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria
  • Ensure end-to-end traceability across:
  • Initiation → Validation → Routing → Settlement → Reconciliation
  • Collaborate with Product Owners for backlog refinement and prioritization
  • Conduct requirement walkthroughs ensuring clarity across teams

2. Payments Domain Expertise

  • Apply strong domain knowledge in:
  • Payment lifecycle and STP processing
  • Exception handling and reconciliation processes
  • Ensure correctness of:
  • SWIFT (MT/MX) and ISO 20022 message formats
  • Cut-off times, settlement cycles, and holiday calendars
  • FX rate application and validations
  • Define business rules for:
  • Payment validation, routing, and processing

3. System & Integration Understanding

  • Work with systems:
  • PEP+ (Mainframe-based – Mandatory)
  • CNS (Consolidated Server)
  • Payment Exchange platforms
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Mainframe payment processing (batch cycles, job flows, reconciliation)
  • Document:
  • Integration flows, APIs, and data mappings
  • Understand ecosystem across:
  • Core banking systems
  • Payment hubs
  • External networks (SWIFT, ACH, clearing houses, correspondent banks)

4. Validation, Testing Support & Quality Assurance

  • Define acceptance criteria aligned to business needs
  • Support:
  • Test scenario creation/review ensuring full domain coverage
  • SIT, Integration Testing, and UAT activities
  • Actively contribute to:
  • Business-aligned test strategy
  • Real-world payment scenario validation
  • Perform:
  • Data validation and reconciliation checks
  • Functional gap and impact analysis
  • Participate in:
  • Defect triage, prioritization, and root cause analysis
  • Provide continuous functional support to QA/testing teams
  • Ensure readiness for production deployment

5. Compliance & Risk Alignment

  • Ensure requirements comply with:
  • AML, OFAC, KYC regulations
  • Internal audit and regulatory standards
  • Identify:
  • Compliance gaps and risk areas
  • Align solutions with audit and governance expectations

6. AI-Enabled Insights & Continuous Improvement

  • Leverage AI-assisted tools to:
  • Detect anomalies in payment data
  • Improve requirement quality and coverage
  • Support:
  • Intelligent test data validation
  • Data-driven reconciliation and reporting
  • Drive improvements in:
  • Payment processes and system efficiency

7. Stakeholder Management & Client Sign-off Coordination

  • Collaborate with:
  • Product Owners, SMEs, Developers, QA
  • Business, Operations, Compliance teams
  • Conduct:
  • Workshops, demos, and requirement sessions
  • Act as:
  • Primary functional liaison between business and technology teams
  • Drive UAT closure and client sign-off, including:
  • Validation checkpoints with stakeholders
  • Ensuring all critical scenarios are tested and approved
  • Tracking dependencies, risks, and open items
  • Coordinate client approvals and ensure production readiness
  • Communicate:
  • Clear updates, risks, and sign-off status

Experience Criteria

  • 8+ years of experience in Banking / Financial Services (Payment’s domain)
  • Strong experience in:
  • Wire Transfers, ACH, FX processing
  • 3–5 years as Business Analyst / Senior BA
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • PEP+ (Mainframe – Mandatory, batch cycles & job flows)
  • CNS (Consolidated Server)
  • Payment Exchange platforms
  • Experience in:
  • Testing support (SIT/UAT) and production validation
  • Payment system implementations/migrations
