Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join a growing manufacturing operation in Arcade, NY. This position is responsible for ensuring welded components meet applicable quality standards, specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding inspection, quality control, fabrication, and manufacturing and be comfortable working directly with welders, production teams, and engineering personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspections of welds and fabricated components throughout the manufacturing process
- Verify weld quality and conformance to applicable specifications, drawings, procedures, and customer requirements
- Identify weld defects, nonconformances, and potential quality concerns
- Review welding procedures, documentation, and inspection records
- Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, engineering drawings, and fabrication specifications
- Utilize appropriate measuring and inspection equipment
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records
- Work closely with welders, supervisors, engineering, and quality personnel to resolve welding and fabrication issues
- Support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Help ensure welding operations consistently meet established quality and safety standards
Qualifications
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification strongly preferred
- Previous welding inspection, weld quality, or fabrication quality experience
- Strong understanding of welding processes and inspection practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings
- Knowledge of weld defects, acceptance criteria, and proper welding practices
- Experience working in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with production, quality, and engineering teams
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on welding or fabrication experience
- Experience with stainless steel fabrication
- Quality control or quality assurance experience within a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with applicable AWS welding codes and standards
- Experience with dimensional inspection and precision measuring equipment
Compensation & Opportunity
This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity offering compensation of up to $80,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
