About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Chief Inspector to lead quality control and assurance functions at our FAA-certified repair station, which employs approximately 40 team members. As the primary quality authority on site, you will oversee the full scope of AS9110 Quality Management System compliance and serve as the key liaison to the FAA and other regulatory bodies. This role requires technical expertise, strong leadership, and a proactive approach to quality improvement and regulatory compliance.
This is a single-site role, offering the opportunity to make a measurable impact across all departments within a tightly integrated team environment. This role has no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
Quality System & Regulatory Oversight
- Own and maintain the facility’s Quality Management System (QMS) and Safety Management System (SMS)
Audits & Compliance
- Lead and host FAA, customer, third-party, and internal audits
- Plan, execute, and close internal audits
- Manage audit findings, corrective actions, and preventive actions to closure
- Maintain compliance evidence and audit readiness at all times
- Conducts process and product audits annually
Corrective Action & Investigations
- Lead product investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development
- Ensure effective containment, correction, and systemic prevention of quality issues
- Monitor trends and systemic risks; escalate as needed to leadership
Training & Qualification Oversight
- Own training compliance tracking and qualification records for the repair station
- Support new-hire orientation for quality and regulatory topics
- Ensure recurrent and regulatory training requirements are met and documented
- Ensures personnel have appropriate knowledge and training to safely perform duties
Documentation & Configuration Control
- Maintain control of technical documents, manuals, procedures, and revisions
- Ensure controlled distribution and proper implementation of quality procedures
- Coordinate updates driven by regulatory changes, audit findings, or internal improvements
Leadership & Reporting
- Partner with inspection and production leadership to improve quality performance
- Provide quality metrics, trend analysis, and risk reporting to site and organizational leadership
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the facility
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a QA/QC role.
- 5+ years of experience working directly with FAA regulations strongly preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience and team leadership required.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Auditing experience strongly preferred.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant license and/or FAA Repairman Certificate (or ability to obtain).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of AS9100.
- FAA, EASA, and 14 CFR Part 21, 43, 65, and 145 preferred.
- Skilled in technical writing, documentation control, and interpreting regulatory and engineering documents.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality tools/methodologies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience with NDT procedures and precision measuring instruments a plus.
