Title: AVP Loan Quality Control

Department: Commercial

Reports To: VP Consumer Lending

Supervises: Consumer Loan File Maintenance Specialists & Loan Quality Control Specialists

Job Classification: Exempt, Full-time

The Assistant Vice President Loan Quality Control is responsible is for conducting independent loan reviews and reporting documentation, data entry, policy, and underwriting exceptions to the SVP Deposit Services. The individual who assumes this position will also assist Credit Analysts and Loan Staff in the review of all loan documents. The primary objectives of the reviews are to ensure all HOPE Consumer Loans are properly documented and conform to HOPE’S Consumer Lending Policies. The reviews performed will ensure compliance with Credit Union and regulatory requirements, as well as following up on trends identified so appropriate training can be developed and provided to the lending staff. Additionally, this position will assist the AVP of Special Assets and staff with the servicing of problem consumer loans when requested.

Responsibilities:

Lead and support Strengthening HOPE Initiative that values an organizational culture for open communication, innovation, associate engagement and other traits that contribute to collaboration and high performance
Provide leadership and supervision to all Loan Quality Control staff
Ensure Loan Quality Control staff effectively review loan documentation in a timely manner.
Asset Quality – Ensuring that acceptable credit standards are maintained. Confirms lien perfection/titles, UCC Filings, and Deed of Trust, Collateral Evaluations and Valuations
Provide Loan Quality training to all consumer lending personnel
Ensure all necessary consumer loans are produced, executed, recorded, and filed correctly. Verify quality, completeness, accuracy, and proper storage of all loan documentation. Document and work with interested parties to resolve exceptions.
Document and process closed loans, completing any necessary releases or paperwork.
Provide accurate, timely responses to requests from internal auditors and NCUA examiners. Review audit/exam findings and make recommendations to leadership as necessary.
Assist with Post closing review of real estate files including contacting attorney, financial institution, and insurance company’s personnel for required information.
Assist in preparing all real estate documents including preliminary and closing documents. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing documents, reviewing title work and LE/CD from attorneys, advising lenders of closing needs, reviewing and approving insurance requirements to protect HOPE’s assets.
Manage various vendor relationships and systems. Process and track invoices and payments.
Informs management of any potential fraud opportunities and/or detection
Train and support Consumer Loan staff around loan quality control procedures
Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or required
Maintain a working knowledge of all real estate updates, including regulatory changes to procedures for consumer real estate lending.
Add/subtract loan file information as needed and requested.
Review all new loan files and daily track all loan exceptions on an on-going basis, including one on one discussions with each lender to clear exceptions.
Ensure the security of the loan file area.
Other duties assigned.

Secondary Functions:

Prepare and release Deed of Trust, UCC-3, and Vehicle liens
Adequately quote pay-offs and submit Letters of Guarantee
Manage closing package, follow-up information, and post-closing issues to ensure that all documentation is received to properly document the loan. Information is entered on the Exception report via SharePoint
Follow and recommend updates for the loan closing procedures.
Provides excellent internal and external customer service.
Provide assistance and consultation to branch staff, other lending personnel, credit analysts, auditors and regulatory examiners
Produce reports when necessary or requested by management
Assist Special Assets with filing Gap, Life and Disability Claims
Renew and Monitor Renewal of Bonds for Titling in the required states in our Footprint

Qualifications:

Required

Five years of supervisory experience in banking/credit union.
Five or more years of experience in consumer loan documentation and closing. Preference experience in consumer lending and finance.

Preferred

Demonstrated strength in ability to manage multiple projects at once while maintaining appropriate attention to details.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred or equivalent experience.
