JOB TITLE: Food Safety & Compliance Manager

As a result of our significant growth in recent years, we are looking for a Food Safety & Compliance Manager who will be responsible for improving, developing, implementing, and maintaining all systems related to quality, food safety, and compliance. This role is also responsible for providing support and continuous improvement recommendations to the sales, purchasing and operation teams to improve both the supplier and customer experience.
What you’ll do:
Ensure full compliance with all government food safety regulations and maintain the highest possible industry food safety ratings as per the facilities goals.
Promote, maintain, and support the food safety culture to include but not limited to: SQF System, Regulatory Requirements, Customer Specifications, Safe Food Handling Practices.
Prepare, participate, assist and/or perform regulatory and compliance audits.
Inspection and documentation of incoming goods.
Identifies food safety hazards and works towards immediate and long-term correction.
Reports food safety, sanitation and employee safety concerns noted during audits and provides follow-up reports to document progress.
Participate in routine HACCP and Food Safety Team initiatives/ audits.
Develop and maintain HACCP plans.
Develop and maintain SOP’s for all processing equipment.
Research and validate customer complaints and permanent corrective actions.
Under direction, address all customer complaints related to quality or other low-risk attribute(s).
Maintain product and packaging specifications database.
Oversee facility sanitation programs.
Control, administer and upkeep of the company sanitation program.
Oversee analytical testing programs.
Ensure associates have adequate resources, training and are fully knowledgeable of
Food Safety requirements set forth by local, state and federal agencies.
Ensures product safety by removing products with safety issues electronically and physically from inventory and tracking corrective measures.
Other duties/tasks as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in science, chemistry, microbiology, quality assurance or equivalent experience.
Experience with protein processing operations, seafood preferred, meat a plus.
Five years or more of food safety and compliance management experience in a food manufacturing/processing environment.
Expert with HACCP, FDA, USDA Food Safety regulations.
Minimum of 2 years instructional/training/development/presentation experience.
Minimum of 2 years OSHA training & material handling certification safety experience.
Minimum of 2 years creating curriculum and providing instruction.
Proficient MS Office Suite required, experience with distribution focused ERP’s a plus.
Bilingual English-Spanish a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend use hands and fingers dexterity.
Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds.
Continuously exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
Continuous exposure to cold (non-weather)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
