Job Details
Position:Food Safety Specialist – Japanese Bilingual Preferred
Setup: Onsite
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Responsibilities
Provide documents to customers upon request, including spec sheets, raw material specifications, audit certificates, and letters of guarantee.
Develop and maintain HACCP food safety plans and prerequisite programs such as Sanitation, GMPs, Food Defense, Recall, Allergen, and Supplier Verification programs.
Verify imported product labels and ingredients for US compliance.
Investigate non-conformities, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent defects.
Ensure readiness of documents for audits, HACCP verifications, and equipment calibrations.
Analyze product quality and food safety issues to identify solutions.
Investigate customer complaints, take corrective actions, and respond promptly.
Conduct monthly internal audits and coordinate with warehouse management for corrective measures.
Research import regulations and documentation under USDA/APHIS/FSIS jurisdiction.
Travel frequently to support other branches in safety-related issues.
Attend company events outside regular hours and participate in semiannual inventory counts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform duties in a seated position for extended periods.
Travel by car and/or airplane as required.
Perform computer-based tasks for extended periods.
Occasionally reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions
Indoor work environment.
Noise levels may vary from normal to loud.
Conditions can be reasonably accommodated where needed.
Other Requirements
Business-level proficiency in English and Japanese (spoken, written, reading, listening).
Ability to verify product labels in Japanese preferred.
Maintain a positive attitude and work independently or in a team.
Adaptability to changing assignments and workload.
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or relevant field required; 4+ years of food safety experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of food safety procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Basic mathematical skills for inventory, measurements, and calculations.
Knowledge of Japanese foods and liquors is a plus.
