Job Summary

Your mission is to responsible for leading the company's food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance functions across all retail stores, warehouse operations, distribution activities, and supplier networks.

This role ensures that products are handled, stored, transported, and sold in compliance with applicable food safety regulations, quality standards, and company requirements. The incumbent is accountable for safeguarding product quality, minimizing business risks, maintaining customer trust, and protecting the company's reputation through strong quality governance, risk management, compliance oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

1. Food Safety & Quality Strategy

  • Develop and implement the company's food safety and quality assurance strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Establish quality standards, policies, procedures, and governance frameworks across retail, warehouse, and distribution operations.
  • Ensure food safety and quality objectives support business growth, customer satisfaction, and brand reputation.
  • Prepare all related SOPs for all store operations related including but not limited to new campaign, RTE, new promotion etc.
  • Provide strategic direction on quality-related matters to senior management.

2. Regulatory Compliance & Stakeholder Management

  • Ensure full compliance with food safety laws, regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Serve as the company's primary representative on food safety and quality matters with government authorities, regulatory agencies, certification bodies, auditors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Lead regulatory inspections, compliance reviews, certifications, and licensing processes.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely implementation of required changes across the business.
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure consistent execution of food safety and quality standards.

3. Quality Risk Management

  • Establish and oversee quality risk management programs covering product handling, storage, transportation, shelf-life management, and customer safety.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate food safety and quality risks across retail, warehouse, distribution, and supplier operations.
  • Ensure effective corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans are implemented and monitored.

4. Warehouse & Distribution Quality Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight of quality assurance practices within warehouse and distribution operations.
  • Ensure product storage, handling, transportation, and inventory management activities maintain product quality, integrity, and safety.
  • Establish quality controls and performance measures to minimize product damage, expiry, loss, and quality-related incidents.

5. Quality Assurance & Compliance Excellence

  • Ensure readiness for regulatory inspections, external audits, and certification assessments.
  • Review QA findings and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and continuous improvement across all business operations.

6. Quality Culture & Capability Development

  • Foster a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the organization.
  • Establish training and awareness programs to strengthen compliance and accountability.
  • Ensure employees understand and adhere to food safety requirements, quality standards, and regulatory obligations.

7. Continuous Improvement & Business Partnership

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide expert recommendations on infrastructure, facility upgrades, operational processes, and business initiatives from a food safety and quality perspective.
  • Partner with business leaders to incorporate quality considerations into strategic and operational decisions.

8. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, develop, and manage the Food Safety & Quality Assurance team.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive succession planning and talent development within the function.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor or Mater Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications are highly preferred:
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
  • ISO 22000 Lead Auditor
  • HACCP Certification
  • GMP/GDP Certification
  • Food Safety Lead Auditor
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or equivalent
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, Quality Management, or Regulatory Compliance.
  • Experience in retail, convenience stores, FMCG, food manufacturing, food distribution, warehousing, logistics, or Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) operations.
  • Proven experience managing quality and compliance programs across multiple sites.
  • Strong experience leading regulatory inspections, certification audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Effective stakeholder management and ability to work with regulators, auditors, and business leaders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Able to travel across provinces to ensure new store opening is set properly with regular QA and food safety check schedule.
