Overview:
We are seeking an experienced medical billing specialist to ensure both quality assurance and quality improvement of patient billing revenue recovery. The specialist will analyze, troubleshoot and enhance internal processes related to clinical billing and related workflows, with the purpose of reducing errors, increasing the collection of a higher percentage of claims, and continuous quality improvement and compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

Learn all systems and processes to become the internal expert on patient billing as well as the liaison to the billing companies.
Conduct comprehensive analysis/create documentation of the entire billing process and system, including mapping internal and Insync billing processes to identify inefficiencies and gaps, as well as MMS workflow.
Create and administer all insurance and Clearinghouse portals (Inovalon, eMedNY, CMS etc.), including setting up user access with usernames and passwords.
Maximize revenue generation by verifying that Qualifacts/MMS are billing all services performed that are eligible to be billed.
Work with Clinic and PROS to when troubleshooting to determine why billing suspends or rejects.
Ensure that billing is being completed with the correct rates and monitor rate changes by OMH
Regularly review Unbilled report from Insync to determine issues barring billing.
Review open issues on Claims Issue Log with staff to ensure timely resolution.
Improve payment collection by resolving billing issues that prevent payment.
Monitor Aging report to ensure open issues do not exceed timely billing limits.
Liaison with clinic staff for collection of co-pays and self-pay.
Perform regular analysis of performance units by provider/counselor.
Work with clinic management and finance to determine budget goals for units and develop break-even units for all providers.
Responsible for payer mix reporting and analysis.
Assist accounting staff with reconciling payments received to posted payments in Insync.
Conduct regular analysis and updates to the contract rates and contractual allowance rate.

EDUCATION ANDTRAINING:

Minimum of Associates degree in medical billing, business, or accounting related field plus a minimum of two years’ experience as a medical biller/coder. Preference will be given to candidates with Coding Certification. Behavioral Health experience is preferred. Knowledge of general office practices with proficiency using MS Word and Excel. Experience with Insync or similar electronic health software preferred. Must possess excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment, closely interacting with internal clinic and accounting staff, as well as external billing companies and partners. Must be highly organized and able to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
