Quality Control Manager Jobs in Columbia, MO at Little Dixie Construction

QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER

Full-time / Columbia, MO

Over the past five decades, Little Dixie Construction has served clients and communities throughout Mid-Missouri and the Midwest. Our expertise includes general contracting services, design/build projects, construction management, facilities management, and green/LEED projects. Our work includes industrial/manufacturing, commercial, residential, municipal, land development, and healthcare projects.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized construction project manager to oversee all aspects of quality control company-wide, including meeting with project partners, site specific job supervisors and project managers, and teams. The quality control manager will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a high level of quality control between internal and external stakeholders. The job will be a mix of doing periodic site walkthroughs during the project to catch problems before and as they arise; as well as working with the project teams to coordinate final walkthroughs and punch lists. Our goal is when the client and design team walk through a project that their punch list is as short as possible. To be successful in this role, you must be organized and be able to communicate to different levels of the project team across multiple projects at the same time. Top candidates will have an eye for detail and craftsmanship, adept at identifying problems before they become major issues and have the follow-thru to make sure they are resolved in an efficient and effective manner.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Meet with engineers, architects, and contractors on an ongoing basis regarding project objectives and progress.
  • Perform periodic walk-throughs of all project sites to review and document what is going on with the specific goal of monitoring the craftsmanship and quality of work being performed not only by Little Dixie Construction employees but all of the various subcontractors on a project.
  • Schedule and conduct final walkthroughs, pre-punch, and punch lists with Project Managers, Superintendents, design teams, and clients.
  • Pay attention to various project schedules to make sure that proper oversight is occurring at various important stages within the construction process to make sure proper review and documentation of quality is maintained.
  • This will include not only job site QC reports but also job site pictures.
  • The level of documentation required will also assist the project managers and project coordinators to generate requisite subcontractor change orders, as well as owner change orders, and understand the difference between the two.
  • Manage and motivate job-site superintendents and teams. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to teach and help others develop a better eye for quality control and craftsmanship and show less experienced employees warning signs and potential issues to watch out for.
  • Work with superintendent and subcontractors and the office to close out contracts by completing all punch list items, providing as-built drawings, and making sure the client is more than satisfied with the performance of LDC and its superintendents.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and all other regulations.
  • This person will manage quality for the company as a whole so a major part of this role is to help refine and develop a continuous improvement process to make sure quality control stays at a high level at all times.
  • This person may be required to do periodic trainings both on specific sites as well as company wide to groups of employees, project managers and superintendents.
