Your Role in Supporting Our Members

As a
Manager,Quality Engineering, you are accountable for delivering quality outcomes for a business workstream. Youoperateat the intersection of engineering, delivery, and business, ensuring that quality engineering execution translates into predictable, reliable, and production-ready outcomes.

This role goes beyond technical leadership—you are fully accountable for whether quality has been achieved, includingreleasereadiness, risk management, and visibility to stakeholders. You lead a team of QE Leads and SDETs, balancing delivery execution,people leadership, and technical oversight to ensure quality is embedded end-to-end in the delivery lifecycle.

This isa Full-time,Permanent rolebased at our Vancity Head Office and will report directly to the Director, Quality Engineering.

How You’ll Make an Impact Quality Outcomes & Delivery Ownership

  • Owningend-to-end quality outcomes for a business workstream
  • Accountable for:
  • Release readiness and go-live decisions
  • Quality status, risk visibility, and mitigation
  • Predictability of delivery outcomes
  • Making trade-off decisions (coverage vs speed vs risk) aligned to business priorities
  • Ensuring quality engineering execution results in measurable business outcomes
  • Assisting with definingQE technical strategy and translate itinto operational delivery plans
  • Defining and enforcing the quality operating model within your workstream:
  • Quality gates&CI/CD integration
  • Ensuring quality practices are embedded into day-to-day delivery execution
  • Driving continuous improvement in efficiency, cycle time, and defect leakage

People & Technical Leadership

  • Managinga team of QE Leads and SDETs
  • Balancing people leadership, delivery accountability, and technical oversight
  • Leading through technical depth and credibility, not just coordination
  • Buildinga strong QE culture focused on engineering excellence and accountability

Modern Quality Engineering Practices

  • Driving adoption of:
  • API-first testing approaches
  • Automation-first strategies (beyond UI-heavy testing)
  • Shift-left and CI/CD-integrated validation
  • Ensuring teams effectively implement automation frameworks and quality signals
  • Guiding teams in applying risk-based testing and outcome-driven validation

Partnership & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Building strong partnerships with Product, Engineering, and Delivery leaders
  • Providing clear, actionable visibility into quality status and risks
  • Aligning quality engineering execution with business priorities and delivery timelines

What You’ll Bring to the Team Experience & Leadership

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience leading,managing and coaching teams of QE Leads and SDETs, with accountability for both delivery and people development
  • Proven experience owning delivery outcome sin complex, multi-team environments

Technical Expertise

  • Proven experience designing, evolving, and scaling automation frameworks across multiple teams
  • Deep experience inAPI-first testing and reducing reliance on UI-heavy approaches, ensuring alignment with modern delivery architecture
  • Experience with AI-powered testing approaches(LLMs, agentic and spec-driven automation), including evaluating where they are effective at scale
  • Strong experience integrating automation intoCI/CD pipelines at a delivery system level(not just individual pipelines)
