The Manufacturing Manager will oversee product delivery in accordance with project requirements and timeline. This is a key leadership role across the organization.
Responsibilities:
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT:
Ensure effective planning of goods and services procurement, logistics and inventory management to meet demand for components / raw materials originating from production and finished goods generated by customer
Ensure budget control and accurate cost accounting is maintained within the procurement process
Categorize product bill of materials and implement sourcing strategies appropriate for materials classifications
Establish long-term supply agreement formation with suppliers of critical components to de-risk long term supply of components, establish VMI/Consignment stock agreements, reduced lead-times, maximize working capital, minimize delivery delays, minimize defects
Develop resilience through multiple sources of supply for critical components and develop contingency plans and business continuity strategies
Source and establish long-term supply agreements with sub-contract manufacturers / global EMS suppliers
Develop standard BOM cost model and finished goods delivery schedule
Manage day-to-day activities of the procurement team to ensure supply chain related activities are completed in a systematic, logical and timely manner
MANUFACTURING:
Develop detailed master production schedules and translate these into materials requirement plans to align material supply with irregular project driven demand and batch-wise production output
Analyze the current production system design and where necessary implement lean principles into the production system design
Working with contract manufacturers, implement line balancing within the production system to maximize efficiency output in the production process considering cycle times, takt, waste reduction, holding time reduction
Establish manufacturing quality control procedures and reporting methods (e.g. control charts) with both component suppliers and contract manufacturers
Conduct regular monitoring of production processes to ensure stability in process and reduction in variation
NEW PRODUCTION INTRODUCTION (NPI)
Working with technical teams to ensure product-related manufacturing specifications (bill of materials, drawings, assembly & test procedures) are prepared and controlled effectively
Support the development and implementation of a framework for New Product Introduction (NPI) (e.g. stage-gate process) in the organization including defining work breakdown structure, stage gate exit requirements, resources requirements, product development and release schedules
Ensure products transition to production remain compliant within cost, quality and functionality requirements
Develop PPAP / APQP processes and procedures and qualify new component suppliers using this process
Working with cross-functional teams – engineering, trade compliance, quality assurance, logistics – to ensure program deliverables are achieved on time and on budget
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in science-based domain: Engineering, Business/Economics, Mathematics, Finance, or other relevant fields from a reputable University
8+ years working experience in advanced manufacturing, productization, NPI, strategic sourcing, subcontract manufacturing operations, product transfer
Proven track record of effective team leadership, motivation, and development
Must possess strong critical thinking skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can convey instructions clearly and concisely
Should possess strong organizational and time management skills, including prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
Must be able to demonstrate a commitment to safety and quality control
