The Food Safety Assistant supports the implementation and maintenance of food safety and sanitation programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. This role plays a key part in day-to-day monitoring and documentation of food safety procedures in a production or processing environment.
Pay Range: $18 – $20/hr
Schedule: Monday, Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm
Duties
Assist with daily inspections of production areas to ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
Monitor and document temperatures, sanitation practices, and other critical control points.
Collect product, environmental, and water samples for laboratory testing.
Maintain accurate and organized records related to food safety programs, audits, and training.
Support internal audits and assist during third-party inspections.
Help implement corrective actions for non-conformances related to food safety.
Provide training support to staff on GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), allergen control, and sanitation procedures.
Assist in managing inventory of sanitation supplies and monitoring chemical usage.
Communicate any food safety concerns to supervisors or the Food Safety Manager immediately.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or certification in food safety or quality preferred.
Previous experience in food safety, QA/QC, or sanitation is a plus.
Basic understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety regulations (FDA/USDA/FSMA).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, production environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
