About The Role

The Quality Assurance Engineer role at Zonda is a vital position within the IRIS Research team, focusing on AI-driven automation to enhance software quality and efficiency. As a QA Engineer, you will work closely with product analysts, developers, and stakeholders to understand user workflows and translate them into automated test cases. The role emphasizes integrating AI tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to accelerate test development, maintain robust end-to-end testing suites, and ensure seamless CI/CD pipeline integration. Your responsibilities will include designing and executing automation strategies for happy-path scenarios, developing API tests with Postman, and leveraging AI-assisted loops for self-healing and test suite optimization. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of strong QA fundamentals, hands-on experience with automation tools, and familiarity with AI coding assistants, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3–5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including manual and automated testing
  • Proficiency with Playwright, including fixtures, projects, parallelism, and trace viewer
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright Test Agents (Planner, Generator, Healer)
  • Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude (Claude Code) and/or GitHub Copilot for automation development
  • Strong knowledge of Postman, including collections, environments, scripting, and CI integration with Newman
  • Solid proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript for automation scripting
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
  • Ability to write and validate SQL queries and work with SQL databases
  • Familiarity with modern version control systems like GitHub and pull request workflows
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Embed with the IRIS Research team to observe and document critical user workflows, translating them into a prioritized test catalog
  • Develop comprehensive happy-path end-to-end automation suites using Playwright, ensuring they execute on every pull request and deployment
  • Leverage Playwright Test Agents and AI tools to generate, execute, and self-heal test scripts, maintaining high coverage and reliability
  • Create seed tests, fixtures, and reusable page objects to facilitate ongoing automation efforts
  • Author and maintain Playwright test suites, utilizing AI assistants to accelerate development and debugging
  • Operate AI-driven loops (Planner, Generator, Healer) to produce structured test plans, generate test cases, and manage flaky or broken flows
  • Design, build, and maintain API test collections in Postman, integrating them into CI pipelines for regression testing
  • Utilize AI features within Postman to generate test scripts and validate API contracts
  • Integrate testing frameworks into CI/CD workflows, producing dashboards and reports to monitor quality metrics
  • Engage with stakeholders to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and document bugs or issues in Jira
  • Contribute to internal AI tooling documentation, runbooks, and best practices for automation and QA processes
  • Stay informed on emerging AI-assisted QA practices and propose innovative improvements to current workflows
