QA/IP/Wound Nuse – *Monday-Friday* Jobs in Perry, IA at Perry Lutheran Homes
General Description: This position is responsible for preparing blood test orders, reviewing, and mailing laboratory results, performing accurate and efficient blood draw techniques for routine blood work, and helping customers with questions and issues relating to blood tests.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform all customer service duties for the lab for both external and internal customers with Life Extension philosophy of ensuring superior customer service
Maintain a minimum quality score of 90% for all customer calls as part of our Quality Assurance program
Complete help desk tickets for various internal/external requests including, but not limited to resending requisition and results, test cancellations, and problems with orders
Correspond with LabCorp and other contract laboratories regarding testing problems, add-ons, missing reports and tests, etc. to ensure that all reports are complete and received in a timely manner
Correspond with outside physician offices via fax or email at customer’s request to provide them with test results
Perform various computer tasks and maintain knowledge of key internal & external systems including LEO, PWNHealth, LabCorp Link/Beacon, helpdesk, KMS/Portal, and BI Report Center
Review and send customer laboratory results
Perform accurate and efficient blood draw techniques (phlebotomy) for routine blood work and LE clinical studies (Must maintain a 92% success rate on blood draws)
Prepare lab test orders and pack kits for shipment to customers throughout the US
Process returned blood test kits and prepare specimens for daily LabCorp pickup
Assist training temporary staff during Lab Test Sale (peak time for orders and in-house blood draws)
Perform QC and maintenance on all laboratory equipment (centrifuge, freezer, etc)
Maintain proper knowledge of specimen centrifugation and processing to ensure the blood is handled and processed correctly prior to daily LabCorp specimen pick-up
Assist with inventory management; Ensure ongoing stock replenishment of essential lab supplies by coordinating internal staff and outside vendors (LabCorp, etc.)
Maintain technical laboratory knowledge and basic clinical knowledge through regular review of Life Extension literature and/or periodic assessments
Follow all lab-related SOPs; Maintain cleanliness in the work area and lab
Regular onsite attendance is an essential function of this position
<25% local travel required
Additional duties as needed
Position Requirements:
HS Diploma or equivalent; Phlebotomy certificate or equivalent
6 months of current, daily phlebotomy experience preferred
Ability to provide non-clinical technical interpretation of lab test results & identify problem results
Strong computer knowledge – Microsoft Office proficiency is essential
Knowledge of universal precautions and collection of biohazard waste material, including SHARPS
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to work well as part of a team and flexibility to work overtime based on business need
Experience with an elderly population is a plus
