Quality Engineer

The WACO/JUNKERS Aircraft Engineering Team is where WACO and JUNKERS passion for excitement, beauty and aviation come together to make dreams reality. The quality engineering team at WACO/JUNKERS is small, nimble, and cross-functional, offering each team member broad exposure to aircraft systems and manufacturing.

WACO/JUNKERS is seeking a motivated and experienced Quality Engineer to join our growing team. As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for analysis and optimization of our processes, procedures, and operations for WACO/JUNKERS aircraft.

As we are a small company with a diverse range of manufacturing processes, candidates are expected to be flexible and comfortable working on multiple assignments with varying subject matter. This includes creating a prototype all the way from the design stage to physically building the hardware and systems. The ideal candidate would have a broad range of experiences with the following experience preferred:

Experience in the Aerospace industry not necessary but a plus with a broad range of skills from RCCA to APQP.
Knowledge of the aircraft design and certification process a plus.
Proficiency in the following fields preferred: AS9100, PDCA, RCCA, APQP
Proficient in quality systems

As a Quality Engineer for Aircraft Manufacturing with specialized qualifications in Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR) or Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) requirements, your role is pivotal in ensuring that all facets of aircraft production adhere to stringent standards set forth by regulatory bodies. You will lead quality assurance initiatives, drive compliance efforts, and ensure that every aircraft manufactured meets the highest benchmarks of safety, reliability, and regulatory adherence.

What you will do:

Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes and procedures.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Design and implement testing protocols for raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
Conduct inspections to verify product specifications and identify defects.
Investigate and analyze the root causes of quality issues and non-conformities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain comprehensive documentation related to quality control activities.
Prepare quality reports, including statistical data, for management review.
Identify opportunities for process and product improvements.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall product quality.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
Conduct supplier audits and assessments.
Provide training to production and quality control teams on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
Ensure awareness and understanding of quality requirements throughout the organization.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and customer requirements.
Stay updated on changes in regulations and communicate necessary adjustments to the team.
Monitor and address customer feedback related to product quality.
Work with customer support teams to investigate and resolve quality-related issues.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain, to integrate quality considerations into all stages of product development.
Perform other duties as assigned by management or as necessary to meet the organization’s needs.

What we are looking for:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or in a related field.
Proven experience in quality engineering, aviation regulation, or a related role.
Extensive background in aircraft manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance within the aerospace sector, coupled with specialized qualifications in DMIR or DAR requirements.
Profound familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines governing aircraft manufacturing, including FAA regulations and DMIR or DAR criteria.
Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and tools.
Familiarity with statistical analysis and quality control methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
