Job Description
The QA Technician will work in a microbiology and chemistry laboratory, testing raw ingredients, in-process materials, and finished products for a food manufacturing facility. This role focuses on ensuring product quality and safety by performing routine analyses using general laboratory instrumentation and wet chemistry techniques, including pH, solids, fats, moisture, and wastewater testing. The QA Technician may also support basic microbiological testing as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Test raw ingredients, in-process materials, and finished products to verify they meet established quality and safety standards.
+ Perform routine analyses using general laboratory instrumentation and wet chemistry techniques.
+ Conduct pH testing, solids analysis, and fats and moisture analysis on various samples.
+ Perform wastewater analysis to support facility and regulatory requirements.
+ Carry out general wet chemistry procedures according to standard operating procedures.
+ Assist with microbiological sample handling and basic microbiological testing as needed.
+ Follow quality assurance and quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
+ Document test results clearly and accurately in laboratory records or systems.
+ Inspect and evaluate samples for conformity to specifications and report any deviations.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work area in compliance with laboratory and facility guidelines.
+ Support continuous improvement of quality testing processes and laboratory practices.
Essential Skills
+ 0-2 years of experience working in a food manufacturing facility laboratory.
+ At least 1 year of laboratory experience.
+ Experience performing quality assurance and quality control testing in a laboratory setting.
+ Hands-on experience with general lab instrumentation and wet chemistry techniques.
+ Ability to perform pH, solids, fats, and moisture analyses accurately and consistently.
+ Basic understanding of microbiology and biology concepts relevant to laboratory testing.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing, inspection, and documentation.
+ Ability to follow written procedures, standard operating instructions, and quality standards.
+ Good organizational skills to manage multiple tests and samples efficiently.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate degree in a science-related field is preferred such as biology, chemistry, or a related discipline.
+ Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control principles in food manufacturing.
+ Ability to work every other weekend as required by the laboratory schedule.
+ Strong communication skills to share test results and quality concerns with team members.
+ Willingness to learn additional microbiological testing techniques as needed.
Work Environment
This role is based in a microbiology and chemistry laboratory within a food manufacturing facility. The QA Technician works with laboratory instruments and equipment to perform wet chemistry, pH, solids, fats, moisture, and wastewater analyses. The environment is structured and process-driven, with a strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to quality standards. Work may include every other weekend, depending on production and testing needs.
Laboratory attire, such as appropriate protective clothing and equipment, is required to maintain a safe and hygienic workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fond du Lac, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 – $22.00/hr.
