A Quality Testing Technician is an individual responsible for testing the quality of inbound and outbound materials and communicate findings relative to material specifications
Your Impact in This Role
As a Quality Testing Technician, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Lead in ensuring that products and services meet or exceed customer specifications. Perform plant quality checks per SMI’s Quality Procedures.
Track quality performance, identify problem areas, take action to contain any deficient material from leaving the facility, and undertake other actions to improve.
Assist with plant quality meetings and training of plant employees.
Update and maintain Quality records on a computer. Analyze data and produce reports, as requested.
Observe Production Line Workers’ actions to ensure sampling and testing are done correctly.
Perform and document in-process cullet sampling in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP).
Work with the maintenance personnel to ensure equipment operates efficiently to optimize product quality.
What You Bring to the Table
Quality Improvement Process knowledge.
Core competencies in Quality Control, Testing, and Auditing, a plus.
Able to read and understand Procedures and Test Methods.
Capable of operating quality equipment (inspection tables, ovens, etc.).
Excellent communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently, with little supervision.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Data entry experience.
Capable of using a calculator and laboratory scales and competent with interpreting numbers.
Basic computer operation skills (experience with Excel and Outlook).
