Summary of Position:
The Quality Assistant
– Auditor and Document Control position supports SSI facility with respect to internal auditing and document control responsibilities. This position is responsible for evaluating a company’s internal controls, assessing risks, and ensuring compliance with regulations by conducting audits across various departments, identifying potential issues, and recommending corrective actions. This position manages the flow of documents within the organization, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and proper filing of both physical and electronic documents by tracking versions, maintaining document registers, and enforcing document control procedures.
Essential Duties:
Develop and/or guide development of policies and procedures related to food/product safety and quality requirements.
Be responsible for validating progress through metrics, audits, observations, etc.
Be responsible for validating the process through metrics, audits, observations, etc.
Be responsible for maintaining critical records.
Be responsible for validating corrective actions.
Ensure all policies and procedures support the goals of the program.
Develop and deliver the metric/presentations for and facilitate management review.
Be responsible for validating food safety, quality and HACCP Plans.
Act as the company liaison during external audits.
Schedule and perform internal audits.
Generate and document corrective actions from audits and customer complaints.
Assist in creating, implementing, maintaining, and improving key QMS elements, likely including:
Internal Audits, Document Control, etc.
Remain up to date on and communicate new regulations and upcoming changes.
Research and generate requested regulatory documentation for customers.
Assist in completing customer surveys and questionnaires.
Develop and deliver training related to core areas of expertise as needed.
Serve as an additional resource for process improvement/project management.
Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department and throughout the organization.
Ability to travel (5 – 10%) to customer and supplier locations as well as attend relevant conferences/seminars.

Requirements
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
:
Focus on product quality and food safety.
Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and can work with various levels of personnel in the organization.
Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams and Dynamics AX.
Experience with ISO 9001:2008 quality system.
Experience prioritizing multiple responsibilities with minimal direction.
Training and Experience:
Experience in internal auditing and document control in a GFSI or ISO certified manufacturing environment.
Auditor Certifications Desired (ISO or FSSC Auditor, ISO or FSSC Lead Auditor, Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), etc).
Physical Requirements:
Reaching for phone and keyboard.

Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly from one work site to another.
Lifting:
Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
Crouching:
Bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
Pushing and pulling.
Fingering, grasping and feeling.
Talking, hearing and repetitive motion.
Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
