About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team and help deliver reliable, high-quality software across complex, integrated systems. This role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining automated test solutions that improve release confidence, prevent defects, and enable faster, more predictable software delivery.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with TestComplete, automated testing frameworks, and CI/CD integration. You will work closely with engineering, product, and QA teams to enhance automation practices, improve test coverage, and ensure critical business workflows are thoroughly validated.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions using TestComplete
- Create and execute smoke, functional, regression, and integration test suites
- Develop automation frameworks and maintain reusable test components
- Implement parallel test execution to improve automation efficiency
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support unattended execution
- Trigger automated tests as part of build and deployment workflows
- Generate, publish, and distribute automated test execution reports
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to identify and reduce quality risks
- Maintain automation standards, documentation, and best practices
- Support and mentor team members in effective automation approaches
Automation of Manual Test Processes
- Review existing manual test cases and translate them into effective automated solutions
- Ensure automated scripts accurately reflect approved test steps and expected outcomes
- Prioritise automation of critical business scenarios and workflows
- Maintain traceability between manual test cases and automated scripts
- Update automation status and test coverage within Rally or JIRA
- Work with manual testers and product owners to clarify requirements, edge cases, and expected behaviour
- Identify opportunities to improve existing test cases and overall quality processes
TestComplete Configuration & Environment Management
- Install, configure, and upgrade TestComplete across local, virtual, and build environments
- Configure TestComplete for CI/CD and unattended execution
- Manage TestComplete licensing configurations
- Maintain project structures, shared libraries, and Name Mapping
- Document setup, configuration, and operational procedures
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with TestComplete automation
- Proven experience automating existing manual test cases
- Experience maintaining test traceability using Rally, JIRA, or similar tools
- Strong scripting experience with one or more of:
- JavaScript
- Python
- VBScript
- Experience with keyword-driven and script-based automation approaches
- Experience running automated tests in parallel
- Strong experience integrating automated testing into Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
- Experience generating and publishing automated test reports
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and QA best practices
- Experience testing APIs and server-side components
- Comfortable working across both Windows and Linux environments
Desirable Experience
- Experience within healthcare or clinical systems environments
- Knowledge of HL7 or healthcare integration standards
- Experience with JSON testing and validation
- Knowledge of SMTP and WCTP protocols
- Experience with Oracle WebLogic
- Experience working with VMware or Apache technologies
