Position Summary:
Reporting administratively to the Site Project Manager and functionally to the Americas Quality Director, the Quality Control Manager is responsible for the execution of all quality-related activities across the Sugar Land facility and associated field sites in Fresno and Freeport, TX. You’ll manage inspection programs, maintain documentation compliance, and collaborate closely with project, engineering, and procurement teams to uphold project standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the site’s primary QA/QC contact for all fabrication, construction, and inspection activities.
Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Management Plan for Sugar Land and provide oversight at Fresno and Freeport sites when required.
Supervise inspection teams across disciplines including mechanical, piping, structural steel, coatings, and instrumentation.
Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and Method Statements.
Oversee welding inspections, NDT activities, and fabrication quality assurance across multiple sites.
Conduct regular walkdowns, in-process inspections, and final system verifications.
Lead quality audits and provide coaching to field crews and subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with CAM’s internal quality systems and ChampionX standards.
Identify, track, and resolve non-conformances and maintain the NCR log.
Assist with turnover package compilation and documentation reviews.
Travel to Fresno and Freeport, TX to perform audits, inspections, or provide support during peak activity or high-risk work.
Collaborate with procurement and engineering on vendor surveillance and material quality issues.
Prepare weekly and monthly QA/QC reports for internal leadership and client stakeholders.
Attend ChampionX quality meetings and represent CAM during client inspections.
Qualifications:
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is required.
API inspection background is recommended.
8–10 years of experience in QA/QC roles within industrial fabrication, oil & gas, or chemical manufacturing.
Experience with process piping, ASME codes, structural fabrication, and NDT methods.
Familiarity with ChampionX, Schlumberger, or similar chemical facilities is a strong asset.
Solid understanding of inspection protocols and documentation practices for fabricated skids, piping systems, and modular assemblies.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Smart Completions or Orbit is a plus.
Willingness to travel to Fresno and Freeport as needed to support ongoing site QA/QC initiatives.
Excellent interpersonal, documentation, and leadership skills.
Safety-first approach with strong attention to detail and field visibility.
