Wage dependent on experience.

Shift:

1st shift-Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. plus overtime when needed.

Job Summary:

It is the responsibility of the Quality Control Inspector to validate conformance of product to specifications, drawings, and blueprints through first-piece and final inspection as defined by inspection reports and internal quality systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes first-piece and final Inspections on small CNC machined parts to larger fabrications
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerance using measuring instruments
  • Completes inspection reporting and required customer inspection reports
  • Assists Machinist/Welders in laying out fabrications
  • Reads and follows complex fabrication blueprints
  • Proficient use of measuring devices to include height gauges, mics, bore gauges, calipers, etc.
  • Keeps area clean and organized
  • Processes and completes shop documents to ensure accuracy for cost accounting of jobs and hours of work
  • Works closely with co-workers and management
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Experience and Required Skills:

  • Previous experience in quality, preferably 3 to 5+ years.
  • Understanding of the machining process, machine shop background and/or experience as a machinist.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and mechanical calibration preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMM and/or Faro Arm helpful, but will train the right candidate.
  • Must be organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Ability to read, follow and understand blueprints, manufacturing instructions and code, GD&T principals, and quality documentation, plans and criteria.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Follows instructions and responds to management direction.
  • Excellent attendance and a positive demeanor required.
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with others.

Physical and Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

Frequently (>45%) required to stand, walk, talk, see and/or hear, lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and/or use hands to finger, handle, manipulate, or touch objects, materials, tools, and/or controls. Required to push, pull, reach, stoop, bend, squat, and/or climb. Required to see, talk, and hear. Repetition with activity. Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Intermittently (< 15%) required to sit, lift and/or move up to 100 pounds or more with mechanical.

Working Environment:

Work is performed in a shop environment. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud with machines running. The shop environment frequently contains different levels of hot and cold as well as frequent exposure to dust, metals, and oil particles. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual would encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.
