ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Quality Control Lab Technician reports to the Food Safety/QA Manager and is responsible for monitoring product quality and safety and assisting the Food Safety/QA Manager in establishing food quality and safety protocols, programs, and systems, including HACCP/HARPC and associated Prerequisite and Preventive Programs. Also, to monitor and report any food safety concerns to appropriate departments and assist in supervising QC personnel. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and report any food safety concerns to the Food Safety/QA Manager and other appropriate departments
  • Communicate product quality issues to the Food Safety/QA Manager and other appropriate departments
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment of QC areas and plant in general
  • Ensure the efficiency of QC sampling, packing, and activities related to food safety and quality
  • Audit the proper completion and logging of departmental records (prerequisite programs)
  • Audit and monitor pest control documentation and activities
  • Provide supervisory assistance in maintaining plant sanitation at a high level
  • Oversee environmental and hygienic swabbing schedules
  • Oversee Doc Control in all departments (QC, Production, Processing, Sanitation, Training, etc.)
  • Oversee and audit calibration program and ensure checks and calibrations are performed as scheduled
  • Participate in and be an active member of the HACCP/HARPC and Internal Auditing teams
  • Assist in developing and monitoring food safety systems and the implementation of food safety programs
  • Assist in root cause and risk analyses for food safety programs/systems as needed
  • Assist with independent, 3rd Party, and/or customer audits, including preparation for such audits
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations and corrective action plans
  • Assist with Trend Analyses and Mock Recalls
  • Assist with plant food safety training sessions (HACCP/HARPC, GFSI, GMPs, Hygiene, etc.)
  • Assist in performing internal audits and ensuring corrective actions are established and completed
  • Be proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Be able to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Perform other miscellaneous and additional tasks/special projects as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

$18.00 starting pay is dependent on the applicant’s experience
