The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of the quality management systems (QMS) to meet regulatory, contractual, and industry standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are typical for this role. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
* Quality Management System (QMS): Oversee and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and AISC Complex Bridge requirements, ensuring all processes align with industry’s best practices and company policies
* Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies, recommend process enhancements, and work with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement
* Defect Analysis & Non-Conformance Management: Investigate quality issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions to prevent recurrence
* Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all quality documentation, records, and certifications are properly maintained and meet regulatory requirements
* Supplier & Subcontractor Audits: Evaluate suppliers and subcontractors for compliance with quality standards and oversee corrective action plans as needed
*Customer & Regulatory Interaction: Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and third-party auditors to ensure product acceptance and certification compliance.

Minimum
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints
* Ability to build collaborative relationships
* Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred
* Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, shipbuilding processes, and regulatory requirements
Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
* Experience with QA software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
* 1+ years experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance role
Preferred Qualifications
* 5+ years of Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience in heavy fabrication, shipbuilding, or bridge manufacturing
* Expertise in ISO 9001, AISC Complex Bridge Certification, AWS D1.5/D1.1, and NAVSEA standards
* Quality auditing experience
* Certifications such as CWI (Certified Welding Inspector), ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or NACE Coating Inspector
