Role Overview:
The Quality Assurance Manager will oversee and continuously improve the facility’s quality management systems, aligning them with both customer requirements and internal standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9001. The role requires an experienced leader capable of building strong teams, championing preventive quality methodologies, and guiding compliance and audit programs within a high-precision production environment.
Core Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, train, and assess a dedicated Quality Assurance team to ensure optimal performance and departmental alignment with strategic goals.
Participate in staffing decisions, salary reviews, and team development initiatives to cultivate a high-performing QA culture.
Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
Oversee incoming inspection procedures, disposition processes, and ensure complete record retention.
Drive root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions for product non-conformities.
Use statistical process control (SPC) tools and non-conformance tracking systems to support data-driven improvements.
Organize and lead cross-functional management reviews of quality KPIs and operational metrics.
Compliance, Audits & Risk Mitigation
Ensure company-wide adherence to AS9100, ISO 9001, and all relevant industry regulations.
Coordinate and lead internal and external audits (including customer and accreditation reviews).
Implement internal quality training programs and enhance employee understanding of preventive quality principles.
Customer and Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Serve as the primary quality liaison for customer concerns, audit preparation, and compliance verification.
Manage gage calibration systems to ensure all equipment and inspection processes remain compliant and efficient.
Improve inspection techniques and measurement technologies to enhance product reliability and traceability.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in quality management, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
Previous work experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
Strong familiarity with aerospace specifications such as AMS and ASTM.
Deep understanding of quality management practices including SPC, TQM, MRB, and failure analysis.
Experience with compliance systems and quality audit protocols.
Preferred Certifications:
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
Certified Quality Manager (CQM/OE)
Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)
Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB)
